This very dishonest company's business practices put my son's well-being at risk. My son has ALS, and we hired Acorn to install a stairlift in his home. We told Acorn our son was 6'4' and 290 lbs. When the surveyor came to his house, he informed us that the official weight limit for a curved stairlift was 265 lbs, but since our son was losing weight quickly due to his disease, they could install the curved stairlift. We signed the contract, paid the deposit, and scheduled an installation date. On the morning of the installation, they called to say they were canceling it because my son exceeded the weight limit. At this point, my son was struggling to get up and down the stairs, and we needed this stairlift installed immediately. We told them the surveyor said it would be OK and that there was a critical need for this stairlift as my son had almost fallen a few times while going down the stairs, but they refused to do the installation. Not only did they lie when they told us his weight was not an issue, but they waited until THE MORNING OF THE INSTALLATION TO TELL US IT WAS BEING CANCELLED!! They had six weeks to tell us this, but they waited until the morning of the installation. Now, getting another vendor to install a stairlift will take at least two months. They lied to us, misled us, showed zero concern for how their decision would affect a human being, and delayed us getting a needed stairlift by two months. I would stay far away from them. They are a despicable company and cannot be trusted.Review from Minnie Adele P

*********************** (correct spelling?) is the person who has visited our home each year to go over our two units and make sure all is in order with them. He is very thorough with a very high work ethic; he is knowledgeable, efficient and has a wonderful personality. I always ask for him. He goes over everything with me and explains to me what he has done and why, and what I need to do. He has given me his cell phone number. He is outstanding. My husband was in management for over 60 years so I see things from the management point of view, whether I am a customer in a store or a patient in a medical office. Excellence needs to be recognized, especially in these days when many people are not willing to work at all or are just willing to do enough to get by, without pride in a job well done. Acorn is very fortunate to have ***** as their representative in the homes of their customers.Review from Clarence G

My 90 year old mother bought an Acorn chairlift and paid yearly for a service contract. Last year (2023) she paid $295.00 in March. The technician never came to service the lift. I called in October (which they had no record of) to report that the lift was beeping and was not working correctly....NO ONE CAME. Unfortunately, my mother went into long term care in January 2024. They reported that they came to service the lift in January but no one was home. When I contacted them in late January or February they scheduled an appointment for ****** My husband and I watched a ******* video and learned that we could replace the battery for $56.00, so we did and the chair works fine. When I called to get a refund I was given the run around by *********************** (manager) and told that the service contract ran out in March. These people are taking advantage of our older generation. Something needs to be done. I am hoping that everyone that reads this will BEWARE of the Acorn ********** ****Review from Nancy L

Poor appropriate service timing. Last year, I paid my renewal service contract on April 25. Couldn't get an appointment til July 16 for a yearly inspection. That appointment was cancelled by Acorn and rescheduled to Aug 23 without a confirmed call. I called them and was rescheduled to Aug 24 cancelled by Acorn to Aug 28 again cancelled by Acorn to Sept 7. They showed up on Sept 6 without a call. Tech was only at my house for 45 minutes. My stairlift stopped working at 7 pm on March 26 on step #8 of 13 on a curved staircase and chirpped all night. I called on March 27 at 7:30 am and was told that Acorn will get back to me within 24 hrs.......which they didn't. I called them on March 28 at 11 a.m. and was told that I was scheduled for April 11, 8-1 with no call back. I told them that a 2 week wait for a ************ on the staircase, chirping away all night would be totally inappropriate. The rep then asked me if I was "refusing" the date? I am disabled with many joint replacements and 2 more to happen. I am totally disgusted with this company and their lack of support. The appointment I need isn't for an annual inspection. The stairlift is broken. He also told me that if the battery died in the meantime, I would have to pay around $200 for a new one. Last one was replaced in 2020.Review from Janet S

The curved lifts are great but overpriced. The quality of service and communication after you pay them for the product is horrible. No one communicates with the customer and can't set up and keep a simple appointment. Its like a communication chain you don't speak to the correct dept. They charge you for a new maintenance agreement after the first year yearly. Its around $750 But can't hold or make an appointment so it's like throwing money out the window. When we did have an issue, it was weeks before someone came out so the chair could not be used and we had to figure out an alternative in getting from one floor in the home to another, **************** does not set up an agreed time with the customer. Just does their own thing calls the night before and tells you that you have a scheduled appointment tomorrow as if you are just sitting there without a life waiting for the magical day that they will show up. Many times, I have called was told that they will communicate to the other department, & to expect a call back for an appointment and I never did get a call back. You are better off buying a lift from your local medical supplier. This is our experience.Worst very expensive purchase I have ever made.Review from Debbie A
