On Feb. 5, 2020 the Ohio Attorney General's Office filed a civil lawsuit in Franklin County Common Pleas Court against defendants Idea Buyer, LLC and Eric J. Corl individually and d/b/a Idea Buyer, LLC alleging they violated state consumer protection laws and committed unfair or deceptive and unconscionable acts or practices.
Below is a summary of the government’s allegations at the time the original lawsuit was filed, which have not been proven.
The state alleges that dozens of consumers lost more than a combined $800,000 to the defendants and the the now-closed company and its owner, Eric Corl.
Defendants Idea Buyer, LLC and Eric J. Corl were supposed to help consumers launch their inventions and assist in every aspect of the process from concept to retail distribution, but allegedly took consumers' money and provided little to nothing in return, according to the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
The state is asking that the court, among other things, order refunds for affected consumers.
