I cannot stress enough to stay away from this bank at all costs. They misinform the mortgage applicant, and honestly have questionable ethics. My husband was working with Johnny C******. This transaction for a construction loan literally started in December of 2021. After leading us around, insisting on unnecessary money down, three months later the VP “decided” not to approve the loan because she felt the house was too expensive. When I went to question what the issue was, I was told by Johnny he couldn’t disclose any information because I wasn’t on the loan. Ummm my name is on the ten acres ( that by the way was loan free), meaning he either doesn’t know what he is doing, or participating in non-ethical and potentially illegal activities. We ended up speaking with TWO other banks who had absolutely NO issue in issuing a construction loan for our new home. We literally competed the loan, and signed in THREE WEEKS with a more reputable bank. Union Savings needs to be investigated, and put out of business. Johnny C****** needs to be fired, as well as this VP. He wouldn’t give me her name. So what do you have to hide?Review from Edmond S

Had a good experience w/this institution a few years ago and decided to use them again. Bad decision. I had 10 times the collateral w/zero debt. My loan officer was was clueless w the underwriters always being the bad guys. I played their cat and mouse game for five weeks before pulling the plug. Don’t go there.Review from Wen B

I've had many mortgages with USB for 30 years and they have been messing up escrow the past 2 years. It's a full time job keeping on top of them. I have my own full-time job but now I have to do theirs, too. OK, so they under-estimated escrow -- I paid the increased escrow but received a late fee notification since I did not pay the new, higher monthly mtg amount. According to escrow customer service "there was a breakdown in communication and they didn't receive the recalculation notification." Got that squared away after 2 trips to the local branch and 2 phone calls to Cinci. Then they said taxes went up so I paid for that but I received a late fee notification for that, too; customer service said that my payment for increased taxes "was not applied correctly, it wasn't coded correctly". This is exhausting. I will cancel them handling escrow for our primary residence but I can't for the rentals. Sigh.Review from Miles J

Today, I had default collection services mail and call me to say that I had missed my payment. (Context, I had a 15 year loan from 2016, I re-financed in July 2021 to a 10-year at an even lower rate.) My info and bank has not changed, how is a loan officer not able to copy and paste to connect the dots on their end? Yet, I get a call saying that I need to go to a branch and give them a check or mail in a new form? What is this? ****? Communication between the different branches is terrible. They are not technologically advanced and really cold. I feel punished for doing nothing?Review from Mercedes J

Worst lender I’ve ever “worked” with. After numerous solicitations, decided to go ahead and refinance. There communication is horrible! After going weeks and months throughout the process I would reach out only to be passed off to another officer. 3 times! After months of no contact after scheduled appraisal. I had to call 5 different people to get a hold of someone. Finally we get appraisal results only to be surprised it came in 80k below market value. The appraiser used 3 non comparable comps from a neighborhood over 2 miles out w/ no adjustments!!! They’re unprofessional, lack communication, and have no knowledge about the market. I would never recommend.Review from Jose M

I refinanced my previous residence through Union Savings bank years ago. I contacted them over two months to purchase an investment property and I was offered to refinance my other properties as well. They charged $1,500 on my credit card for the refinancing of one property only after no hearing from them for weeks, such lack of responsiveness, requesting the same documents over and over. I asked them to prioritize the loan application for the purchase of the investment property and took weeks to get the appraisal completed. I was told that the Union Savings does not have control of the timing to complete the appraisal. I was told that loan process would take 45 days and it has been over two months and no resolution on the loan process. They asked to proof more funds and had to pull money from one account to another when I sent evidence of all my liquid assets for the down payment in the early stage of the process. They recently asked for proof of insurance when I submitted this information weeks ago and new proofs of funds when I had submitted it the week before. I am union saving's customer and I do not feel appreciated as customer, I loss 500 dollars of the ******* money because the seller did not want extend the purchase contract after waiting on the bank for over two months. I have been told that I need wait for the underwriting response several times and they cannot nothing about it. My realtor expressed the same frustration on the lack of responsiveness when she contacted the bank several times as wellReview from Kay H

I contacted this bank (with whom I already have an account) and asked about loans. The loan officer with whom I spoke told me they were offering great rates and they could help me. He asked if I knew what my credit rating was and told me that if he checked, it would be a hard pull that would deduct points from my credit rating. I told him I would do one of those free checks myself because I did not want that happening, as I was interested in getting a loan with them, but, was wanting to find out more information, part of which revolved around what my credit score was. I exchanged a few further emails with the loan officer, asking questions, but, never saying, "Yes, go ahead and fill out an application for me and check my credit rating because I want to do this with Union Savings." Lo and behold, I got a letter last week from Union Savings Bank congratulating me on choosing them for my financial needs, reporting to me what my credit rating was, and telling me what further information they needed from me to complete the loan. I NEVER gave this loan officer my social security number, which he would have needed to check my credit. I NEVER asked him to fill out an application on my behalf. The only way he could have gotten my social security number was to have gone into the system and pulled it from the account I have with them. I was and am still shocked by this. I ended up calling my local branch who assured me that the loan officer's supervisor would be contacting me about this last week. NO ONE contacted me last week, which was extremely disappointing. I wanted to be sure and leave a review here in case this is a tactic they employ to try and force people to get loans through them. I feel I have no choice but to get my loan through them now. The points that were deducted from my credit rating because of the hard pull they did to check it without my permission cannot be added back to my credit rating (and, according to the letter they sent, my rating with ******* was less than twenty points away from being dropped to the next lower-rated group and that is before subtracting from that number however many points were deducted by their hard pull). Please beware of this bank!!Review from Justin E

DO NOT USE UNION SAVINGS BANK FOR REFINANCE... My home was appraised at $ 170k in 2018 and was appraised again at $ 190k in November of 2020. I decided to use Union Savings Bank for a refinance this spring. They sent out an appraiser that valued the home at $ 140k. The appraiser didn't use comps in the same neighborhood. I'm not sure how this is ethical or legal but STAY AWAY from Union Savings Bank. Also - They refused to refund my $ 250.00 which doesn't surprise me because the paperwork was shady to begin with.
