Without notice, Spire came to my home to swap out the meter (no idea why). Left a hang tag on my front door that was only found this morning when we got up without heat, hot water or gas to the stove. It was in the low 30's last night and the house was in the mid 50's this morning. After calling this morning, I was told a technician would be out today to relight the pilot lights on the furnace and water heater and turn the gas on at the meter so we can cook. So here I sit, in the afternoon, at home in a cold house, waiting for a technician. I should be at work. I should be warm. WTF is wrong with this company? Their action should be criminal. Absolutey terrible disregard for their customers. They turned my gas off with 0 notice which is fine, once I realized it I paid what needed to be paid and had someone scheduled the next day to come turn it back on. I called them to see if someone could come that day and turn it back on because I have a newborn at home and they said theres no circumstance that allows same day appointments. I had someone scheduled for the following day and in the afternoon when someone still hadnt shown up I called them back to check and the lady said not only did I not have someone scheduled to come that day and they still wouldnt do same day appointments but she tried to claim that I never even called the previous day (even though Im 99% sure its the exact same lady I talked to). All of this knowing I have a baby at home.Review from Linda W

Honestly if I could give this company a zero, it still wouldn't be low enough. Their customer service is horrible. They treat their customers terrible. They cut my gas off in the middle of it being freezing outside in the middle of cooking breakfast for my 5 year old grandson who has autism. Paid my bill 2 weeks prior, new bill came out, they turned my gas off. I paid my bill in full within 20 minutes of being disconnected and they still haven't turned it back on. It's been 5 days!! No supervisor help at all! No review place to warn others. No help at all! So myself, grandson with autism, husband and sons has no heat, no hot water to bathe and still cannot cook meals. I own a business and cannot bathe for work. This is NOT how you treat human beings!! You need serious help Spire Energy! Just pathetic! The news station is my next message or call. I close my account out last month an had a $230 credit left on my account so I asked for a refund credit sent back to me in a check they told me yes after my final bill *** that my final bill came now I have a credit on my account for $195 and they still wont give me my credit why cant they just give me my refund I dont have an account anymore I dont old them a thing an they keep lying saying they mail it this day that day Im tired of the run aroundReview from Mary C

Horrible horrible company!! I wish I had a choice in the matter. My husband and I have been with this company since they took over. We have faithfully paid our bill for all those years and just recently ran into a nonpayment issue related to my retirement. I tried to explain what happened but was hit with a disconnect and deposit like I was a common criminal. I understand that they treat their employees the same way! Shame on this company!! One star. Do not recommend. If Spire is going to be forced upon you, I recommend refitting your home/business to move away from gas. This is a tale of disconnecting service. To make sure it is easy for the customer, upon disconnection, they will give you a window of 8 am to 8 pm (always a sign of a well organized and customer minded company) for them to get into the building. When yo ask why they need to physically gain access, you don't really get an answer. The next phase of customer service is what really separates ******************** away from the pack of mediocre to bad to utility companies is that even though they give you a 12 hour window for you to wait, they don't even show up or call! They are so unorganized and care so little for their customers that they will just not show up after demanding the only way to disconnect service is for them to be physically present! Good stuff. Really above and beyond in the customer service department. I have never written a bad review but after sitting in a vacant location for 12 hours waiting for a no show service call, I was angry enough to write this. So, in summary, if you can avoid it, do not do business with this company. Buy a grill, live off of a campfire, use solar to heat your water, do whatever but do not give these these people your money.Review from Ti K

If they had negative stars they would get them. This is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My bill has tripled since last year and I live alone and put on brand new more efficient furnace and ac. Seriously they make it impossible. And budget billing is a joke the have raised it to where it is just as high as the bill. They know you have no where else to go and could care less how it effects customers. Definitely would give negative stars if I can. Doesnt service on weekends, which starts on Friday and doesnt can at all about emergencies, which would include not having heat at all during winter, instead they will STICK to their policy and not assist at all. So yeah they are willing to let me freeze for three days without service. HORRIBLE!!!!!Review from Aldo B

Spire doesn't have Customer Service, but they do have very good gate keepers. If you have any issues with auto pay, you can forget about getting any resolution, and good luck getting them to transfer you to a department that can help Then again, they probably don't have a department that can help. I will be keeping an eye out for Alabama P**** to offer a rebate on an electric water heater so I can get rid of Spire once and for all.Review from Hillary V

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! told me that my hot water heater being out for days wasn’t an emergency, then was talking about me because she thought i couldn’t hear her. absolutely awful, i called someone else to complain about the rude lady i first dealt with, and she was also rude. TERRIBLE COMPANY!!
