On January 1, 2024, at approximately 7:50pm I was notified by Barclays fraud department of questionable activity on my Mastercard, and I informed the person at Barclays that none of the transactions on the card were done by me and to shutdown the card. The fraud department did an initial investigation determined I was not responsible for any charges and closed the case. Then on February 21, 2024, Barclays reopened the case claiming new evidenced from the merchant (Tennessee Secretary of State). After personally speaking to the merchant on February 29, 2024, there is no new evidence except that the merchant uses a third party processor for payment which is telling Barclays the billing information is valid. However, I already disputed these charges on 1/1/24 and Barclays could stop them if they wanted because they were stated fraudulent but Barclays doesn't want to. Additionally, when I approached the idea of identify theft online Barclays informed me that I can file charges if I want to. Providing no further help, forgetting the fact that these transactions took place in Tennessee and I live in Pennsylvania and have no association with Tennessee at all. What is the point of a fraud department for a credit card company if they don't actually protect you from fraud.
