I brought a full-size pickup truck in for an alignment after getting new off-road tires nextdoor, as I am overlanding across the country. I was frankly blown away by the level of service I received at this location. Not only did they not charge me, explaining that I was still safely within alignment specifications, but *****, the tech working on my truck, pointed out three additional issues with the vehicle that could have cost me a LOT of money in the future. Because he pointed them out, he undoubtedly saved me MASSIVE headaches, and I can't possibly thank him enough. Even after all of that, I was charged nothing. I tried to insist that they take my money (repeatedly), and they refused. This is a class act here, and I can't frankly understand the negative reviews on this site. ******** at the front desk was exceptionally pleasant and helpful, I was treated kindly and was scheduled on short-notice...frankly, this is one of the best mechanic experiences I've ever had. I have nothing but good things to say, and if I'm ever back through the area, these folks will 100% have my business. Please give them a try, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed here.Review from Sam T

I repaired my Jeep Wrangler and ******** **** here in less than 2 yrs ago and 3 to 4 yrs warranty. But when I took the Jeep back there, they dont honor the wareanty saying City grage didnt transfer the *************** tp them when they bought the business. This was a very unusual explanation to a customer. I have emails and messages that shows my cars are worked there. I am talking to their HQ now. Will update tge final outcome. Car is in tge shop in Coppel, **. Not repairwd yet. Wairing for HQ responses.Review from Bobby b

Ah yes the great review board. Here is a short story of service and why I would recommend asking a lot of questions before having them service anything.Friday afternoon I walk in to request service and they state that they are busy, thats fine so I ask if I can schedule an appointment and do so for 5pm. I get there a bit early around 4:45 because maybe Ill be lucky and they will be ready early. They arent and tell me itll be 5:30 before the truck is ready. Still no big deal. I go and do some local shopping.5:30 rolls around and I get a call that they have not touched the truck and would like to work on it in the morning. I tell them Ill find a ride home and can have someone drop me off in the morning around 9 and get the truck. They promise that it will not be a problem and the truck will be ready.Ride issues come up and I end up walking to the shop and get there at 10:30 only to find out the truck is still not done.Update: its now 11:30 and I still dont have my truck and it was brought in for an oil change. They had offered me $25 off for the issues, but then told me the ** told them they could not give that discount for my inconvenience. So the price went back up also.Ps with their oil change specials there are additional charges that they may not tell you about until you are ready to pay like shop fees, additional oil quarts, and a few other things.Moral of the story dont plan on them running on time and dont plan on them charging what you think it may cost.**** and ******** ******* ********Review from Brian M

Charged for services not perfomed Our SUV was taken to the 129th & ****** store to have SUV tested. They started with testing ****************** But were not sure of complete issue so we had it towed to 120th & ***** store where said the ******************* were bad.Why did the store at 129th not find bad batteries? They supposedly replaced both and the started failed again, but they did not replace under warranty. They did not cover the cost to replace the starter again even though they had said it was their responsibility. They charged us nearly $2400 for starter and batteries. The they said it needed a head gasket and spark plugs for additional $1000. They did not say they could not perform, they gave us an estimate. SUV was then towed to dealer and starter replaced and SUV started. Do not take your Vehicle to Brakes Plus unless you want to be repeated off.Review from Richard M

Went in on August 2, 2023 to get new rotors and brakes for all four tires spent $986.56 its January **** and when I break my car starts tagging back-and-forth, took it to break plus on January 23, ******************************************************************************************** that nothing is wrong with it and they just lubed it up. I said OK drove off that day my car started to make like metal rattling anytime I hit a small pothole or dent on the road when I took it to brakes plus it wasnt making any noise but the tugging when I would break. I do not go back and spent more time for them to tell me nothings wrong so as of right now I have an appointment for a mechanic shop for Tuesday Tuesday the 29th.Review from Rick Z

Beware of Brakes Plus at **** S ***** in ******. I'm sharing my recent experience concerning this Brakes Plus location (and from the looks of all the negative reviews the entire company) to help others avoid the same BS I went through. I initially brought my car to Brakes Plus for replacement of the alternator after getting towed to the site. What followed was either gross incompetence or just plain deceptive business practices (likely both). After the alternator was replaced, along with a new serpentine belt and radiator flush & fill, the car operated normally but shortly after I noticed the A/C light blinking when turned on. This indicated a problem with the A/C system and I assumed it was due to the recent work on the alternator so I took it back for a diagnosis. What should have taken an hour took 2 full days. During the check, their technician incorrectly diagnosed the problem and said the compressor needed to be replaced and was not operating and the cost would be about $1,900. I decided to take it to another mechanic for a 2nd opinion and they quickly determined that the compressor was not connected to the power supply. In a few minutes it was reconnected and A/C now works fine. When I brought the vehicle back for warranty work on new struts that started leaking after one yr, I requested a refund my $105 diagnosis fee on the A/C as they created the issue in the first place and incorrectly recommended replacing the compressor. An in-store argument ensued and the manager kept escalating the issue taking no responsibility, insisted they did nothing wrong, and blamed everyone else, including the shop that reconnected the compressor. He actually said the other shop may have disconnected the compressor even though I presented photo evidence! I think they're decent with oil changes and brakes but have no business providing engine repair. Please check the Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaints and reviews before going to Brakes Plus for auto repair.Review from Breaunna R

I bought a car new to me and brought it into brakes plus where I have previously taken my vehicles. I asked them to do an inspection and that there was a vibration in the gas pedal. They called me and said it was the engine and transmission mounts that needed replaced. I paid over 2k for the work and labor just for them to brake a few days later resulting in my car being taken back. They said it was manufacturing problem and fix it. I went back again that day for rattling still happening. I was told "it's probably your exhaust, nothing to worry about from the manager." He then stated there was a note left about a small leak but bring it back if it gets worse.. 4 days later my radiator goes out and poured antifreeze everywhere. I go back again the quote me *****!! I said no I'm going to take it somewhere else and get it checked. The first thing the new auto shop tells me is the engine mounts are crooked and need done. I speak with the manager and I'm told " there is frame damage that's as good as it will get without taking it to a body shop." WHY did they even do the work in the first place knowing they couldn't do it correctly?! Now I have to take my car to body shop to have the frame fixed and mounts redone and I lost my 2k to this place?! Unbelievable. Even the new shop said they wouldn't do the work knowing they can't fix the framing.. that's HONEST work! I was lied to, mislead and blown off! I'll be sharing this to everyone and every platform. By the looks of these reviews I'm not the only one!Review from Rowena N

On 10/25/23 brought my car in for brake inspection. Told rear pads, rotor and calipers needed to be replaced. Was informed by manager that his best guy was on the job. Upon retrieving my car and returning home I noticed pressure in pedal was not right and my emergency brake was going much higher than when I took it in. I also checked my brake fluid and it was half-way full and they supposedly did a brake flush. Contacted manager and informed of issues and scheduled to bring car back. Upon taking car back the following week, I was told that they did bleed the brakes and the pedal was better but the emergency brake was still a little high and that they would need to remove the center console to adjust it which I needed to schedule another day because they couldn't complete in time for me to start work. I did schedule for them to adjust emergency brake however was unable to make the appt. When I called to let them know I couldn't make appt and asked how much time was needed I was informed that's not something they do everyday and they would probably need a couple of hours. I was confused by this because brakes are supposed to be their specialty. I decided that I did not want them to touch my car again. Ultimately, I was still having issues with my brake pedal and emergency brake. I took my car to someone who knows what they're doing. The brakes were not bled properly and they still had air in the lines. Once the brakes had all the air removed my emergency brake returned to normal. Clearly, the staff at this location do not know what they're doing. With air in the lines I could have had a failure of my brakes resulting in a hazard to my safety and anyone else on the streets. I received a reply email from the owner in response to my review asking me to contact the management team to resolve issue but the email link provided is not valid and was undeliverable.Review from Marcia T

I took my car for brake inspection on Nov 10th 2023 and they said brakes were fine but notice a noise for the timing chain and told me the risks of the damage can cause. I asked if they fix that and He said yes. So I took it next day for the proper inspection and told me I also needed so many other things done like oil pump and water pump replaced, antifreeze flush, everything for *************************************************************************************************** around 100 to 150 and no labor charge but the bill went up to $4800 so I said go ahead and do it. After it was done they told me a line from the ** got broken and they will fix for free, I just needed to take it back when I could so I said in a week I will go back. When i got home on November 16th 2023 the next day I took it to work and when I came back I notice a big puddle of oil on the driveway. I called them the next morning on the 18th and told me to bring it in so I did.I left it from Saturday morning till Monday and they called it was fixed including the ** line but they needed me to pay extra and asked me how much I could pay for a 700 to 900 job I said I cant but I ended up offering 400. When I got there Monday they told me they had to clean a big mess of oil but it was fixed now and the Ac line was good now but I will be noticing some oil drops that come from the rack and pinion boot that they will talk about it and let me know how to proceed and that I can use my car like that and it would not affect it. I took it home and notice the drops but in the morning the puddle seemed bigger and I just had to call them back because my car wasnt leaking any kind of fluid at all when I took it and I accepted all the extra work they suggested to be done for them to leave my car with leakages and expect me to pay for everything they keep breaking themselves.I need help and answers I used all my credit card now. I am left with a car with problems that didnt have before.
