We haven't been an ADT customer in almost a year and I'm coming back to leave a review after the **** we've been left with.We had just moved to the area and although we weren't expecting to sign up for a security system since we would be moving again within the 2 years since were military. The salesman was very clear when stating that we would be allowed to end our contract WITHOUT ANY FEES because we are a military family. It was "one of the perks" we were eligible for because of our military service. That is the ONLY reason we decided to go with getting ADT. It was a great system, any issues were dealt with immediately. The equipment is overpriced on my opinion but that's to be expected with large corporations, luckily we were new home owners so we qualified for free equipment (or so we were told). Fast forward to our upcoming move within the 2 years that I mentioned.. I start my rounds of calling and canceling our utilities and what a surprise it was to be told that we would owe nearly $600 for "early termination". After explaining to the person over the phone that we were told we wouldn't be charged anything, they basically told us tough luck. We didn't exactly have $600 to throw down right before a move across the country! So I let it go and figured I'd call Safe Haven. They told us they were no longer part of our agreement, it was all on ADT. So I call ADT back where I was able to talk to someone who deals with moves with military personnel. He was very helpful and told us he would take care of it and there would be a $0 remaining balance. Now here I am getting calls from a collection agency that our "early termination fee" that "we were exempt from" was sent to!! This has been a huge headache and they have completely lost a future customer and any kind of referral from us. If you get anything out of my review, let it be that they do not keep their word and if you're military, STAY CLEAR because they go back on their word and leave you with the mess.
