I spoke to a liar named Ashley about medical coverage. She went through her scripted nonsense about the garbage product this POS company offered. I asked plenty of questions to which she had answer for but little did I know she was full of crap. TO my last question about what was covered her response was and I quote, "If you're not looking to have a baby, a sex change or treat addiction, you are covered." I ended up in the emergency room with urine retention. Turns out it was bladder cancer. Not only did the hospital (which appeared in the network) not accept the insurance, they didn't tell me they didn't. I started receiving bills and am not buried under thousands of dollars of medical expenses because the plan didn't cover anything. Has the BBB looked into this company yet? I see there are a lot of people who had the same experience with these thieves as I did. I am all for a class action lawsuit to shut this farce of a company down. The sooner the better before they take advantage of anyone else. I am seeking a full refund of all dollars and then some! Let's SHUT THIS COMPANY DOWN!Unified Life Insurance Company Response

Today I cancelled a Group Accident and Sickness Hospital Indemnity Insurance policy with Unified Life Insurance Company that was issued through Optimed Health. It was intended to be a GAP insurance policy for in and outpatient services amongst other things. Optimed collected a healthy $603.13/month from my credit card each month through January 2024. What prompted the cancellation is that I had outpatient surgery on 12/1/23 and have since received 4 explanation of benefits letters indicating denial of the claims for "Policy Not In Effect". When I contacted the Claims Department at Unified Life Insurance they confirmed to me that my policy was terminated on 9/1/23. Optimed on the other hand provided a Letter of Eligibility on 1/30/24 confirming that my policy was active and paid up to date. It doesn't matter what Optimed says. The important thing is that Unified Life does not have an active policy for me. Therefore, I cancelled the policy with Optimed effective today. The question remains, who will reimburse me for a policy that was terminated on 9/1/23 and which I paid through 1/31/24. Clearly, I am owed $3,015.65. Don't buy Optimed products and certainly do not buy a policy from Unified Life Insurance. It is definitely a scam.Unified Life Insurance Company Response

I need health coverage because of pains in my stomach and needed to go to the doctor. I went to Healthcare.gov BUT was redirected to the Virginia Marketplace because the commonwealth doesn't recognize Healthcare.gov. Thinking a representative from the VA Marketplace was calling me... THEY OFFERED ME BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD and no deductible. So I paid my deposit and first payment. Went to get therapy and I hadn't received my cards I called the number and found out it was something called MULTIPLAN NOT BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD. And it's not insurance it's some 3rd party network scam. I had to go to the er... I have a fibroid 15cm big. My obgyn wants to do surgery BUT MULTIPLAN PAYS BARE MINIMUM FOR MY APPOINTMENTS AND I'M PAYING ALMOST $300 A MONTH PLUS WHAT THEY'RE NOT COVERING!!! I'm self employed and for companies to take advantage of people like this IS SICK. I don't want to die due to negligence AND I WANT ALL MY MONEY BACK!!!! I'm in pain and my dr is telling me let's wait 6 months to see if it grows knowing I'm in pain because MULTIPLAN doesn't cover surgery after I told it dies I ASK SPECIFICALLY!!! Plus there are very few doctors in my are in their fake "network"!!!! GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!!Unified Life Insurance Company Response

After purchasing a plan in August 2022, specifically researching something to cover Type 2 Diabetes, I was told not to worry, I was covered with the "Multiplan" discount plan. With no real coverage for medications (my medication is over $500/month if a plan even approves it), the Unified Life promotion was to use an international medication supplier, MedAfford Global. I tried them and ended up waiting 5 weeks for a prescription fulfillment and went two weeks without after running out. I went into Diabetic Ketoacidosis and had to go to the hospital for two days, racking up $18K in hospital bills. This "insurance" company sent me a EOB for adjustments but tells the hospital that the claim is denied for pre-existing condition. No adjustment are made and I am fighting over a year to get the adjustments applied. The latest is that adjustments can not be made and I am responsible for 100% of the bill because of the denial. I wasn't even asking for bills to be covered, just adjusted per the "don't worry, you have Multiplan benefit". I paid per month for absolutely no benefit. In fact, w/o any insurance, the hospital would make adjustment for non-insured. This company took my money and totally screwed me. I take some responsibility for lagging on my medication; I did not believe I was subject to go into Ketoacidosis, this had neve happened before. I do maintain that with another insurance or better prescription service, I would not have been in the situation to have had to go to the hospital in the first place. I agree on a class action. I am looking at my next step. I hate being ripped off...this one is in the ballpark of $20K once the five months of premiums are added to the hospital bill.Unified Life Insurance Company Response

This company is fraudulent. Sold me a PPO and dental, told me I could go to any doctor. My dentist has never heard of this company. Made a doctor's appointment at UCLA and was told they have never heard of this company and won't accept the PPO INSURANCE, I called Unified and was given a whole lot of BS. Told me to just go to the doctor anyways and then file a claim. NOT going to happen. I suggest everyone file a claim with your State Insurance Commission. That's what I'm doing. @unified plus, please don't respond to my complaint with your generic BS, same response for every single complaint. I am furious and will take this as far as I have to in order to get my money back. Messed with the wrong person.Unified Life Insurance Company Response

Same generic response to every single complaint against this company. The response is not true, they will not investigate, they have not reached out directly. This company is a complete scam. I've filed a complaint with the California Insurance Commission, I suggest everyone that has a complaint about them do the same.Review from George B

This company is running a scam. Providers on their in-network list will not accept their contract. When you file an independent claim to the PO Box address in El Paso, it will disappear. Any names you collect from Customer Service are probably false. They give names like "Carter P" and "Mandy," who say they will investigate and call you back, but they never do. If I had just self-paid for my visit to begin with, I'd be out only $200, not $500 total.Unified Life Insurance Company Response

This company is a complete scam. They cover nothing, they lied about their coverages. The plan I bought was supposed to be for my area and they claim nothing here is in area. I would gladly join in a lawsuit against this fraudulent company. I have paid over 9k this year and they have covered $30 of one visit. We should join up and put this company out of business and recover out losses. Complete dishonest company, and don't even try to cancel because they will run you in circles!!Unified Life Insurance Company Response
