I see so many bad reviews but honestly through the *** and downs getting through my graduate degree everything has been great. I am now wrapping up my degree and would recommend the psychology program for mental health counseling. Its hard work and many hoops to jump through but its worth it!

I would not recommend this school to anyone. I just submitted my 1st paper & was failed for the entire course, a loss of over 3k. It was for an error on a reference page. There were two additional research papers due before May. I was told that is their policy. I feel completely scammed. Do not attend this university.

I have just finished my Masters Degree at Capella and could not wait to get away from this college. their Financial Aid Department is the worst. They will hold financial aid funding from students as long as they can in order to draw interest on those funds for their own profit. Excuses will be ongoing, you will get a different story from each representative, will never get a clear explanation for the delays, or just not get your funding. My final billing session ended 12/10/23; my final course ended 1/01/23. I was required to complete my course prior to January 1, or I would not have my degree completed. I waited until I spoke with the financial aid department on 12/26/23 before I completed my course, due to the Christmas holiday. Also, after 7 days you get a warning that you have not participated in your course. At this point I had completed my last assignment. I was never informed that by completing my course prior to midnight 01/01/23 it would stop my disbursement for the billing session that ended 12/10/23, which should not matter, since a new billing session had already started. But, now it is 12/29/23 and I am told if I get any funding, which I have counted on for tuition and living expenses while in school, may not be awarded at all. This school is for profit, and their Financial Aid practices definitely prove it.

I enrolled in the accelerated BSN - Master's flex path program per recommendation from a coworker. After enrolling I got hospitalized which caused me to miss a deadline by exactly 30 mins. I was then locked out of my course. I immediately contacted my advisor and explained my situation and asked if I could be given an extension. I was denied and was told I would be enrolled in the RN-BSN flex path program which was the same as the previous program but minus the 3 master's courses. To my astonishment, my 12-course academic requirement list did not drop 3 courses but gained 7 courses. I went from needing 12 courses to meet my requirements to 19 courses. After over a dozen emails back and forth with a second advisor, I was told there was nothing they could do because, even though I transferred in 130 credits, I was still in need of 8 elective courses in addition to the core nursing courses. I asked for an explanation as to why the 9 students in my study group enrolled in the same program with less transferred credits and each only had 10 courses total to meet their program requirements while I had a total of 19. I asked multiple times for an explanation and each time was met with a different answer. I have now completed 11 coursed with 8 courses to go, while everyone else in my study group finishes up on their 10 course and prepares for graduation. Before all of this, I sang Capella's praises and because of that, over a dozen nurses enrolled in the BSN or master's program. They all now are nearly finish with the program and I am left behind with a bill double the cost of what they all had to pay with no clear explanation as to why. Capella is a for profit institution, and they use instances such as this to make sure that profit doesn't slip. It's just sad that students are forced into situations where they are being taken advantage of.

I’ve had a great experience with Capella. Any time I experience a hurdle with financial aid, or go to admit myself into classes, I find that it’s best to call. Never have to wait more than 20 minutes on hold. Being in the flex path program allows me to work full-time and do school full-time, and although doing school online comes with its own challenges, they are easily manageable through communication.

This a for-profit facility. Pros: online library access is good. Cons: The class resources are out of date and assignments cryptic. Instructor support is lackluster, vague. I passed initial classes easily: no matter what project work I submitted, I was passed on to the next course. It appeared that it would be easy to obtain the degree - though I was already negative on the course structure. However, here's the trick, as I was within 3 courses of the degree, suddenly project submissions were getting full-out rejected multiple times. I could not understand what it was they were looking for. I would make multiple corrections, but still the teacher would reject the submission as failing. After multiple submissions with negative feedback, the professor would fail me and recommend that I retake the course. Retaking the course results in having to pay again for the course: obviously to their benefit because although the employer paid for the first class attempt, they would not cover a 2nd attempt. So I retake the course, submit the exact same rejected work and viola, I pass. I move on to the next course, closer to the degree, when the same thing happened again: my coursework is rejected multiple times. I took a deep breath, thought, ok, I'll try harder and I'll retake the course (again paying more money). Again, the same thing occured: I passed without difficulty. The final coursework would entail a thesis type work with multiple iterations, each potentially requiring more cost. I was suspicous that I would be paying multiple times over to "pass". So, I severed my ties. A year passed, then I started receiving "amount owed" emails. I had thought I was fully paid, but 2-3 email bills were sent in a delayed fashion. My request to have documentation verifying these amounts was never fulfilled. Overall, there are better options for people looking for job/career/personal advancement and growth.

Teaching faculty is okay - Admissions, IT support, Financial Aid, and academic support all lack communication skills, understanding, and transparency. Mid-way through my session, I applied for financial aid as I could no longer afford to pay out of pocket - I was told that my account would be sent to collection. After calling them, I was told that if financial aid were to be awarded, it would apply to the next semester, not the current one I was enrolled for, despite it saying otherwise. I then asked if there was a smaller payment plan that I could enroll in to avoid collections. I was told no and that if I paid a specific dollar amount (more than I could afford at the time), I would gain access to my classes. This made no sense at all. There is no transparency, and not to mention, they take forever to review any documents sent. I sent over the requested documents; a month later, they still claim not to have them. Sadly, this institution is flying under the radar of scamming hard-working folks of money and failing to support them where needed with unqualified personnel.

Alumni scholarships are very similar to a bait-and-switch scam! Enrollment counselors told me it would be disbursed in five quarters; financial aid told me it would be disbursed next quarter, then I found out it would be applied at the end of my program! I can't even afford to continue classes. If you want to graduate early, then they won't award you the scholarship. Also, they will change your Ph.D. program while you are in the middle of it, changing requirements and terms. Then, when you decide to drop your classes because you can't afford to continue, it will be a 25% charge.

They are running a scam. They are an accredited university, but the quality of the classes leaves much to be desired. The instructors only give out A's and B's no matter the quality of work. Sometimes, I have questioned if they even read what is submitted. The faculty advisors are barely reachable, and the admissions staff will transfer you from one office to another. This for-profit school is taking the profit portion of the mission more seriously than they take the school part. Their student retention rate is low, and after my experiences, I can see why that is so. I hope that someone will look into this school and that anyone interested in enrolling will thoroughly investigate the programs before giving them their money. While I question the legality of their practices, I very much caution anyone looking at enrollment. Don't blindly enter their programs thinking they have your best interests.

My experience with Capella University has been frustrating, especially regarding charges on my account. They initially stated students have 21 days to drop a class, but later said it's before the first Friday. This inconsistency can greatly impact students. Clear and consistent communication is essential. To add to the frustration, I dropped my class on day 9, well within the initial 21-day window, but was still charged $772. This discrepancy in charges and deadlines needs addressing. Overall, I do not recommend this university.
