Reels are ok but buy Shimano!! **************** when sending your reel in with Shimano is a million times better. Daiwa reel repair customer service, they told me the reel malfunctioned because I have never washed my gear with freshwater after fishing. What a joke!Review from Sam S

I sent a new prorex in for service. Broken after a week of using. Made the mistake of sending ***** on the reel. I was called a liar when I asked where it went. Daiwa sent me a new reel. Instead of locating the old reel(which must have been severely damaged if they sent a new one) and simply checking if the braid was on there they offered me braid for a discount price. Seems fair- I get it- but the fact was I was made to feel like a liar and it would have been simple to see the mistake and make it right. The spool I had bought was quite pricey. Arrogant. Save your money and fish shimano. As soon as I get my other reel back from service its going to be sold! Lost a customer- who guides!Review from Allen D

I bought a brand new prorex reel and only used it a few times before it broke. It would lock up and stop reeling then let loose and work again. I sent it back in the box It came with and they charged me to fix a brand new reel. I called but they didnt care, I either paid or they would keep my reel. Never again will I own anything daiwa and I suggest everyone stay away from them.Review from Michael B

Sent a reel to Diawa back on 7/31/2021. They never acknowledged that they received it as it was printed on the Reel Repair Request Form that they would notify me of how much it will cost to repair and clean the reel.Spoke with **************** who took 10 minutes to find my work order, and then tell me that they have no parts for this reel any longer (It is a Sealine 50H reel). And to add insult to injury, I was told that the reel was sent back to me and delivered at my address on Monday, August 24th.Seeing that I did not receive it, they told me they sent it to the address that was the ********** that I shipped it to them from. I called the *** Store and they did receive it but want me to pay $5.00 as I do not have a PO Box with them.Called **************** back and they said that "sorry, but we can't pay or refund me the money.Never again will I use Diawa for my fishing needs. Plenty of local stores that I can do business with that appreciate its customersReview from Greg W

I have three Daiwa tanacoms. I have had problems with one of them from the first time I used it. It has been used three times and sent back to them for repairs three times now. They will not stand behind their warranty or their product. I do not recommend buying any Daiwa. If you are looking for an electric reel but a banax. I am selling everything I own that is Daiwa and will never buy their products again after the way I have been treated. I have gone round and round with them and they refuse to replace the reel. Stay away from Daiwa.Review from B

After the last few weeks of fighting with Daiwa regarding a reel, I finally got resolution today. I bought a new Daiwa Tatula 200HS last year. During my last trip, the reel failed while fishing. This caused grinding and resistance when reeling. The reel had only been used 3 other times through the year and not as a main pole (Im estimating less than 100 casts). Sometime during one of the trips, the reel was scratched on top (this is important for later). I contacted the business I bought the reel from and they recommended that since it was under warranty, to ship it in to Daiwa. I filled out the form and sent the reel in ($13 insured ****** Around a week later I received a call that the reel would not be covered under warranty due to significant damage to the reel. This alarmed me and I asked what do you mean significant damage? The reel was sent in in nearly perfect condition (other than the scratch). I was told due to this, I would need to pay $40 and that would cover shipping and repairs. This infuriated me even more because it was under warranty. I talked with the business I bought it from. Admittedly, I like them, small business, but they were unhelpful. I called Daiwa back and yelled at them some more, but finally got pictures of the reel. The significant damage was the scratch that happened before the problem even started. I finally called back to pay (Im already out $13 for shipping) and asked how a surface scratch on a reel would have damaged the internal parts of the reel. Also requested a call from the service department manager. Today, I got a call from Daiwa. The gentleman stated that the service department manager would not be calling me and that I would have to speak to him instead (what?). He provided notes that stated the issue with the reel was NOT caused by the significant damage on the reel, but rather the grinding, resistance to turn the handle, and failure of the reel was due to it needing to be cleaned, and that is not covered by warranty. All in, its costs me ~$53 to fix a $120 reel that Ive barely used. The gentleman who called also stated that theres nothing I can do, and theres no winning this case. I either pay or theyll ship it back. Ill be clear and level headed that I dont believe Daiwa makes a bad product (although quality is a bit hit or miss in these after reading more). This is just terrible customer service. I sent pictures and videos to the business I bought it fromwho are avid fisherman, as well as a local legend reel repairman (30 years+) who were CLEAR that this was not a cleaning issue. There was never a concern to actually address my problem. I really believe that this was a we need to get paid situation. Even at $40, thats a pricey cleaning for a freshwater baitcaster. I bought another reel soon after this one as I did like it, but now that Ive had to deal with the company directly, I will not buy their products again as Ive had better support from Lews and even Chinese based brands. Im not saying dont buy Daiwa, but if you do, dont actually use it and expect support.
