What value does BBB Accreditation provide to businesses, exactly? We could talk all day about the importance of trust in the marketplace, but we thought it would be more impactful to hear from actual businesses who uphold BBB's 8 Standards for Trust on a daily basis. 

We surveyed our Accredited Businesses and asked them to shed some light on the value of their BBB Accreditation. Thirteen thousand responded.

It's all about the Seal

Nearly 90% of responding Accredited Businesses said the BBB Seal adds value to their business. 

Showcasing the Seal instantly identifies you as a trusted organization, and that extra layer of credibility separates you from your competitors. After all, it's the Sign of a Better Business!

Top 3 reasons for being an Accredited Business


Reputation, trust, and integrity are the top three driving forces behind BBB Accreditation. When asked about their top reasons for being BBB Accredited, businesses said they are Accredited because it quickly identifies their business as reputable, builds trust with customers, and demonstrates integrity in their business practices.

In addition, almost 90% of responses from our Accredited Businesses attest to the credibility-boosting potential of BBB Accreditation.


 

BBB as a business resource

Survey results indicated that Accredited Businesses also find value in BBB itself. Over 70% of responses from Accredited Businesses agreed that BBB is a helpful business resource, and 77% agreed that BBB helps connect customers to trusted businesses. 

When asked about the value of BBB services to their businesses, over 80% of Accredited Businesses responses said that BBB customer reviews, business profiles, and complaint resolution services have good value. Better yet, over 90% identified BBB Ratings as the most valuable BBB service.

Accredited Businesses identified their top three business challenges this year as (1) managing increasing costs, (2) growing the business, (3) and hiring and retaining employees. BBB has helpful resources to help navigate these obstacles.
