Are you looking to convert potential customers into paying customers? Then you need to create compelling calls-to-action (CTAs) to help you get your message across, connect with your audience and drive conversions.
CTAs should be included in several areas of your online presence, including your:
- Social media posts
- Blog posts
- Landing pages
- E-commerce pages
While their intentions can vary greatly, the primary goal is to get someone to act and convert from a simple bystander to an engaged and loyal customer. Without a compelling CTA, your viewer won't know what they should do next.
Your call-to-action matters more than you realize
A call-to-action is something that prompts a person to take a specific action. They can be as simple as a text-based CTA, such as “Click here to learn more,” or as complex as an entire landing page with a story, video background and multiple CTAs.
Regardless of the format, a CTA is vital to your business because it allows you to communicate with your viewers and get them to take the next step. Without a CTA, your viewers will be left feeling undecided, which leaves the door open for other competitors to convert them.
10 CTAs that drive massive conversions and why they work
If you want to engage with your audience and drive conversions, you need to put some serious thought into your CTAs. Not sure where to begin? Here are 10 CTAs that have proven to drive massive conversions and why they work:
1. “Talk to Us.”
A great way to encourage engagement between your audience and your brand is to casually invite them to start the conversation with a CTA like "talk to us!"
Why this CTA works
Not only do these CTAs encourage people to start a conversation with you, but it does so in a way that doesn't rush them. While many CTAs are designed with urgency in mind, giving your audience the option to initiate that conversation on their time makes them feel more in charge of the situation.
2. “Gift a _.”
Using the word gift in a CTA is a great way to encourage engagement because it takes the pressure off the person viewing the post or page.
Why this CTA works
High-pressure situations aren't ideal when trying to encourage conversions. However, when you swap out wording such as "get" to "gift," it takes some of the pressure off the person who's on your page. It also opens up the option for someone to "give" or do something for someone else.
3. “Try a _.”
Again, swapping out high-pressure keywords such as "get" for "try" is another way to take the pressure off your viewer.
Why this CTA works
Not only are you encouraging a conversion without putting too much pressure on the viewer, but you are giving them the option to make a choice instead of feeling as if they "have" to do something they may not be too sure about.
4. “Start Your Free _-Day Trial.”
Keywords such as "free" and "trial" are excellent for CTA's that encourage action.
Why this CTA works
These keywords take all the pressure out of deciding because the viewer isn't committing to anything and still getting an opportunity to see if the solution/product is right for them.
5. “Learn More.”
This excellent CTA invites the reader to do something instead of telling them what to do.
Why this CTA works
By using language that invites the readers to do something, you are taking pressure off the viewer and showing them that you are not trying to push them into something they aren't ready for.
6. “Download Now.”
The keyword "now" tells your visitor they will get something immediate.
Why this CTA works
This is an excellent CTA because it helps to fulfill the consumer's need for instant gratification.
7. “I’m In!”
This is an excellent example of a CTA that shows your visitor that you are excited about the opportunity to work with them.
Why this CTA works
Using first-person language shows the reader that you're on the same level as them and that they share their excitement with you by clicking that CTA.
8. “Discover your _.”
In this instance, the keyword "discover" is another excellent way to invite the reader to explore more.
Why this CTA works
The keyword not only invites the reader to click and learn more, but it also indicates that the reader is on some form of "journey" and that you will be guiding them through it.
9. “Enter to Win _.”
This is another excellent example of a CTA that invites the reader to take action with the potential outcome of getting something out of the interaction.
Why this CTA works
Not only is "entering to win" a great way to build excitement and anticipation, but it also indicates to the reader that they are getting something for little to no commitment. Be sure to check and comply with any sweepstakes or contest regulations that may apply in your state, any time you are using an "enter to win" type of appeal.
10. “Share Your _.”
Using the word "share" in your CTA is an invitation, not a command. This is a great way to encourage engagement and prove to your audience that you're more interested in them and their needs.
Why this CTA works
When you use language that invites and encourages your audience to do something, they are much more likely to do it, primarily because it comes off as their idea or decision. You aren't pressing an issue. Instead, you are encouraging open action and communication.
