Better Business Bureau Serving Metro New York is alerting consumers to use caution if purchasing from Crystal Drops, which offers droplets that supposedly alter the buyers’ eye color. The company failed to substantiate several advertising claims posted on its website when asked to do so.
“Health and beauty products should be researched carefully before purchase or use, especially when startling claims are made,” said BBB® Serving Metropolitan New York’s President and CEO Claire Rosenzweig. “If a questionable product is offered for ingestion or application, great harm could be done - so check with a medical professional about safety issues, plus see what our BBB Business Profile says about the company.”
Among the claims, BBB asked Crystal Drops to substantiate statements about the eye drops’ safety and the product’s effectiveness. BBB also challenged Crystal Drops’ 180-day money-back guarantee in light of other statements posted on the same website, claiming that the eye drops usually require six months to achieve results. Other guarantee statements on the Crystal Drops website, posted as of March 16, 2023, refer to a 160-day trial period and “6 bottles” worth of use of the product. Details about the claims made by Crystal Drops and Metro New York BBB’s advertising review may be seen on this company’s BBB Profile.
The company did not respond to the Metro New York BBB’s requests for information on January 12 and January 24, 2023.
As of March 16, 2023, the company website featured an image resembling actress Emma Stone paired with its “turquoise” drops.
“Among problematic online health and beauty sellers, it’s common to see potential misuses of celebrity names and images in product ads,” said Susan Cuomo, the Metro New York BBB’s Vice President of Information and Investigations. “Before assuming a star has actually endorsed or used a product, try to verify that information through a reputable source.”
Crystal Drops was F rated with the Metro New York BBB as of March 16, 2023. Consumers have filed six complaints about the company, alleging product/service problems and guarantee/warranty issues.
