Greenville, SC, April 11, 2023 – Better Business Bureau® (BBB®) serving Upstate South Carolina recently conducted a business investigation regarding Upstate Windows and Exterior, LLC, a window replacement company based in Central, SC. Upstate Windows and Exteriors claims to produce “quality workmanship for a fair and honest price,” but consumers report losing a large deposit when work is not completed nor refunded.
The company currently has nine unresolved complaints on file with BBB.org. According to reports to BBB, the sum of money currently unrefunded is over $36,000. One consumer reports waiting over a year for her window installation service, but it has not been provided nor refunded her 50% deposit. Other consumers report never receiving communication from the company once a deposit is submitted. The owner has informed the BBB to have no contact with the business, and all BBB communication needs to be with his bankruptcy attorney.
Initially, some consumers receive a response from the business providing a promised start date for the window installation. However, the date passes with no work or explanation from the company. Consumers report spending months calling and texting before they receive an explanation if one at all.
To BBB’s knowledge, the business has not issued refunds nor provided window installation services. BBB of the Upstate originally contacted Upstate Windows and Exteriors, but all recent attempts at contact have not been returned.
BBB recommends the following tips before buying online:
- Research the business on various platforms before submitting payment online,.
- Google search the business for reviews
- Go to BBB.org, type in the business name, and review the BBB Business Review.
- Look at Google reviews on their Google My Business ad.
- Should the business have social media, review what consumers are saying about the business on various platforms.
- Make sure to pay with a credit card.
- Check out the business on BBB.org that adhere to BBB Accreditation Standards and BBB Standards for Trust.
