Better Business Bureau (BBB) of St. Louis advises consumers to use caution if doing business with World Class Movers LLC, a Saint Ann, Missouri-based moving company. Consumers reported to BBB that the company failed to deliver items, did not provide refunds, failed to contact them, and provided poor customer service.
World Class Movers LLC has an “F” rating, the lowest on BBB’s scale, due to recent unanswered complaints. The business also has received negative customer reviews.
Complainants told BBB they initially contacted brokers who set up moves with World Class Movers LLC.
“If you decide to arrange a move through a broker, it is crucial you ask them which company is going to do the move so that you can research that company,” said Michelle L. Corey, BBB St. Louis president and CEO. “Failure to do that research could lead to serious problems.”
A woman from Milton, Florida, told BBB she “basically had to steal my stuff back,” after she was moved from Springfield, Missouri, by World Class Movers LLC. The woman said she paid a Florida-based broker $1,500 in July 2022. The woman told BBB World Class Movers LLC employees told her that she needed to pay an additional $2,800 after her items were loaded on the truck on the day of her move.
Already at her new home, the woman told World Class Movers LLC to unload her truck. She said the company refused and told her she would have to pay an additional $4,800 to deliver the items to Florida. Her items were delivered in August 2022, but she refused to give them any more money after they unloaded the truck.
“This was a huge ordeal,” the woman told BBB.
A Denver, Colorado, woman said she had World Class Movers LLC move her in September 2022. She said she was connected with World Class Movers LLC through a Florida-based moving broker with an F-rating with BBB.
She was originally supposed to get her items 11 days after the company picked them up, but she waited more than a month before they were delivered to her residence. She said many of her items were damaged.
“I think the only reason I received my stuff was because I had a lawyer pressuring them,” the woman told BBB. “No one would give me a straight answer on when I was going to get my things.”
The woman said World Class Movers LLC refused to take all her items at pick up, and she had to donate many items to charity.
“It was traumatizing,” she said. “I’ll never do a long-distance move again.”
According to Missouri Secretary of State records, World Class Movers LLC has been registered with the state since February 2022. Dzemo Secic is listed as the organizer of the business. BBB previously issued a warning on another moving company that Secic operated, United Relocation Movers LLC.
In March 2022, the Missouri Attorney General brought suit against United Location Movers, LLC and Dzemo Secic along with several other Defendants, including Ibrahim Secic, Esefa Secic, Kasim Secic, Antonijo Secic, Melissa Bajric, Ohran Secic, Enes Secic, Edis Secic, Abid Secic, Eagle Eye Moving LLC, and Elite Moving and Storage LLC.
The lawsuit alleges that “to confuse consumers, each household goods moving company created by Defendants is organized under the name of a different member or associate of the Secic family [and that] [e]ach company uses a different so-called “business” address—most of which are residential addresses associated with members of the Secic family." That lawsuit is pending. The Defendants deny wrongdoing.
World Class Movers LLC was incorporated shortly before the Missouri Attorney General’s Office brought suit.
World Class Movers LLC uses an address at 3409 N. Lindbergh Blvd. in Saint Ann. The property owner told BBB the company does not have a storefront in the office building but does rent space in the back lot to store its vehicles.
BBB attempts to reach World Class Movers LLC for comment failed, and it did not respond to a BBB letter regarding how it plans to address its pattern of customer complaints.
BBB offers these tips on how to hire a mover:
- Before paying any money, research the company and its owners. Check the company’s BBB Business Profile at BBB.org or by calling 888-996-3887.
- Be wary of movers who don’t inspect your goods on-site and give an estimate over the phone or by email.
- Get at least three written in-home estimates. Remember that the lowest estimate may be an unrealistic lowball offer that can ultimately cost you.
- Watch out for movers who demand cash or a large deposit before the move.
- Be careful of company websites with no address or information about a mover’s registration or insurance.
- Consider taking out insurance to cover any losses; be cautious of movers who claim all items are covered by their insurance.
- If you feel misled, file complaints with BBB and the state’s attorney general’s office.
- Search the company through the U.S. Department of Transportation.
- To learn more about moving scams, read this study released by BBB in June 2020.
