Free website and business cards: How The Bur-Ger Farm in Benson, VT uses BBB's member benefits
The Bur-Ger Farm in Benson, VT, raises livestock and sells premium grass-fed beef, lamb, pasture-raised pork and chicken. Today, husband and wife Gerald and Sarah Hathaway own the farm, which has been in the Hathaway family for many years.
Gerald does much of the heavy lifting handling the farm’s beef herd and fieldwork. Sarah cares for their sheep, meat birds, and chicken layers and manages business operations, including the farm’s website.
Before The Bur-Ger Farm became BBB Accredited in 2019, its website wasn’t as functional as Sarah Hathaway wanted. Luckily, she discovered that a custom business website was included in her BBB in Eastern MA, ME, RI, & VT member benefits. So Hathaway soon began working with the regional BBB web team. “BBB removed the old website, and they created our new one, and they did a great job,” Hathaway said.
The Bur-Ger Farm’s website features a clean, modern look and organized layout. Site visitors can learn about the farm, find contact information, and more. Plus, Hathaway can request website updates as she needs them.
In addition to a business website, Hathaway relies on BBB member benefits for some marketing materials. “We get all these awesome things like business cards and order forms, and I've gotten some other products as well from BBB, which have been really helpful,” the business co-owner said.
Hathaway also appreciates how BBB rates businesses, enabling consumers to research which companies they want to buy from and do business with. “I think it's fantastic, and I think the BBB membership monthly dues are well worth the money,” she said.
