BBB Northern Colorado & Wyoming: Fifth class of Spark Award winners

(BBB Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming)

Four businesses from Northern Colorado and Wyoming were honored as the fifth class of BBB Spark Award for Entrepreneurship winners during the 26th annual BBB Celebration of Ethics presented by FNBO. The BBB Spark Award for Entrepreneurship is a program of the BBB Foundation Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming where the celebration also honored this year’s five Torch Awards for Ethics winners.

The Spark Award for Entrepreneurship is open to businesses between six months and three years old. Businesses must be in good standing with BBB and the seven candidates were judged by an independent panel based, on three criteria:

  • Character: Leaders must be teachable and open to growing with ideas. Leaders habitually seek the truth, are open to criticism, and know that their own personal development is never complete.
  • Culture: Purposeful entrepreneurs start businesses for more than just the opportunity to be their own boss or fill a gap in the market. Instead, they create organizations committed to serving the needs of all their stakeholders and make intentional decisions about who they align with to bring their mission to fruition.
  • Community: The most successful entrepreneurs understand they are part of a community and commit to supporting those who support them. They give back to worthy causes and treat other entrepreneurs and competitors as peers rather than opponents.

Nominees submitted a written application as well as a short video outlining how their organization demonstrates the three principles.

This year’s Spark Award winners are:

  • Colorado Family Roofing, a residential roofing and gutter contracting company located in Loveland, CO,
  • Elevation Pet Resort, a premier dog care facility providing group and individual daycare, overnight boarding, grooming and training services in Laramie, WY,
  • Polar Bear Plumbing, Heating, and Air, a veteran-owned residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC contractor in Timnath, CO, and
  • Trimlight of Northern Colorado, the exclusive Northern Colorado dealer of Trimlight, a permanent, customizable holiday lighting solution for homes and businesses located in Loveland, CO.

“This year has produced another outstanding group of Spark Award winners,” said BBB president and CEO Shelley Polansky. “Each founder has their own reasons for starting out on the entrepreneurial journey and the four organizations have their own unique sets of core values, but all of them are underpinned by a commitment to trust and ethics.”
