The Better Business Bureau of Western PA is pleased to announce Kathryn Lucas as the recipient of our BBB Ethical Leadership Scholarship for 2024-2025. Kathryn Lucas is a junior at Duquesne University, co-majoring in business management and business analytics and minoring in digital marketing and analytics.
Each year, BBB awards a $1,000 scholarship to a business management student at Duquesne University who embodies the values of emerging ethical leadership through academic and professional excellence and community engagement.
According to Akwasi Opoku-Dakwa, Associate Professor of Business Ethics and Management at Duquesne University, “Kathryn’s exemplary academic achievements include being inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success and Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Societies, along with making the Dean’s List throughout her academic career at Duquesne thus far. Her pursuit of professional excellence is demonstrated in her contributions to the Women in Business Club, an organization dedicated to empowering women in business, and her success in obtaining professional internships in preparation for joining the workforce. Kathryn’s exemplary service to the community includes her roles as an orientation leader at Duquesne, and her philanthropic engagement with organizations such as the Sigma Kappa sorority and the Phi Eta Sigma national honors fraternity supporting the Alzheimer’s Association Walks to End Alzheimer's and Duquesne’s Children’s Miracle Network.”

BBB Ethical Leadership scholarship recipients are selected by the Torch Awards for Ethics panel of judges through an essay-based application process. BBB provides this scholarship in honor of our Torch Award judges and the time and commitment they invest in volunteering to assist in the Torch Awards for Ethics entry judging process.
