The Better Business Bureau® serving Canton Region and Greater West Virginia and the Pro Football Hall of Fame awarded “Student of Integrity” scholarships to five high school seniors in Stark County on April 18, 2024. Each student was awarded a $2,500.00 scholarship to continue their education in a four-year or two-year university, college, trade school, or a paid apprenticeship program.
Each school district in Stark County was allowed to nominate a student who exemplifies the qualities that emulate both organizations. Administrators, teachers, coaches, and others had the honor of presenting someone they feel has shown these values and will continue to uphold them for the rest of their lives in whatever field they choose.
A panel of judges made up of Pro Football Hall of Fame and BBB representatives reviewed all submissions and selected the five winners: Evhan Bell (Hoover), Marlee Hannum (Fairless), Marlee Pireu (Perry), Mason Steele (Minerva), and Quinn Michael Milton (McKinley).
“It is important to honor these students because they are recognized for demonstrating admirable qualities by their teachers, coaches, counselors, or anyone affiliated with their school district,” said Frank Cilona, President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau. “We hope that in honoring these individuals, they will bring their talent back to Stark County.”
Hall of Famer Joe DeLamielleure, class of 2003, spoke on “The Importance of Hard Work” at the presentation program at the Hall of Fame. Joe discussed the incredible opportunity the students have to give back to their communities and how it is a privilege to further their education, as he was the only one in his family to be able to do so.
Both the BBB and the Pro Football Hall of Fame have the word “integrity” weaved throughout their organizations. They honor the “heroes” of the game, celebrate achievements, and, more importantly, give back to the community. Both organizations look forward to continuing the Student of Integrity Scholarship program for years to come.
