Better Business Bureau® (BBB) Dallas, Lubbock, and Wichita Falls is delighted to unveil the winners of its highly anticipated 2024 BBB Video Contest. This contest showcases creativity and innovation in promoting this year’s theme: “BBB Accreditation – The Sign of a Better Business”. In an exciting virtual ceremony hosted on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Facebook page, Lake Highlands High School emerged victorious, claiming first place with their captivating video titled "Captain Betty Blackbeard and Crew: The Fall of Rattlebones." In this video submission, a group of playful pirates embark on a quest to find a treasure chest. Upon discovering the treasure, they reflect on the misfortunes of other pirates and choose to exchange their loot at a Better Business Bureau Accredited Business, demonstrating the importance of ethical business practices.
The video contest is organized by BBB serving Dallas, Lubbock, and Wichita Falls, and aimed to engage high school students in exploring the importance of “BBB Accreditation - the Sign of a Better Business” due to ethical business behavior and consumer trust. Participating teams were challenged to create compelling videos highlighting these crucial values in the BBB Standards for Trust.
In addition to Lake Highlands High School's triumph, New Tech High @ Coppell secured second and third place with their entries titled "Better Business Bachelorette" and "The Bestie Boy Barometer," respectively. These videos impressed the judges with their originality, humor, and thought-provoking content.
BBB awarded the schools and winning teams a total of $5,000 in cash and prizes, recognizing their outstanding contributions to promoting ethical business practices and consumer awareness about BBB Accreditation.
The competition encouraged high school students to create one-minute public service announcements promoting smart consumerism, targeting an audience aged 15-24. Entries were evaluated based on Production Quality, Creativity of the Message, Marketing and Engagement, and Representation of BBB Theme. Six teams were invited to a pitch meeting for round two, where they elaborated on their concepts and production processes before the following esteemed panel of judges.
