BBB of Central Ohio joined in marking the inaugural "National Scam Survivor Day" by introducing a new online resource dedicated to aiding those affected by scams. On May 9th, we honored the courage of individuals who report scams, share their experiences, and assist others in avoiding similar pitfalls.

To mark “Scam Survivor Day,” BBB and Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost issued a proclamation designating May 9th as the official Ohio observance day and highlighted BBB’s new Scam Survival Toolkit.

“The stigma around being scammed often stops people from speaking up, which just increases risk. We’re grateful Attorney General Yost supports this initiative and that he partnered with BBB to honor the day,” said Judy Dollison, President of BBB of Central Ohio. “BBB is also offering a new Scam Survival Toolkit on our website to help people who are affected by a scam, helping them gain peace of mind and work toward recovery.”

Attorney General Dave Yost recognized the value of supporting scam survivors, emphasizing, “I'm pleased to join forces with BBB to bring awareness to the prevalence of scams. By discussing the issues and the risks, we can better equip Ohioans on what to look for and how to avoid becoming a victim."

This significant occasion will be commemorated annually on the second Thursday of May.
