The Better Business Bureau® (BBB®) advises consumers to use caution if doing business with Anatolian Arms LLC, an online ammunition retailer in Mexico, Missouri. Consumers reported to BBB the company failed to deliver products, did not provide refunds, and provided poor customer service.
Anatolian Arms LLC has an “F” rating, the lowest on BBB’s scale, due to recent unanswered complaints. The business also has several recent negative customer reviews. Consumers from 28 states filed complaints about the company.
An Independence, Missouri man told BBB he paid Anatolian Arms LLC more than $800 for ammunition in February 2022. The man believed his order would be shipped to him within two weeks. He said he has not received his order or a requested refund.
The man said he had never purchased from Anatolian Arms LLC before and chose to do business with the company because it had the cheapest price for ammunition.
“They’ve completely let me down,” the man told BBB.
A man from Stow, Ohio, told BBB he placed two orders from the company early in 2022 and paid more than $900. The man said the company gave him several different excuses as to why he had not received the orders. The man said the business eventually cut off communication with him. He said he has not received his orders or a requested refund.
A Maple Grove, Minnesota, man told BBB he paid Anatolian Arms LLC $367 for ammunition in March 2022. He told BBB he waited two months before requesting a refund for his order. He said he was told at the time of purchase that it would take three to four weeks for delivery.
The man said the company gave various excuses as to why he had not delivered the order. The man said Anatolian Arms LLC told him that his order was about to be shipped, but no order arrived. He said he has not received his order or a refund. He said the company has not been responsive to emails.
“With supply chains still moving slowly, it’s important for companies to be as transparent as possible about delivery times,” said Michelle L. Corey, BBB St. Louis president and CEO.
According to Missouri secretary of state records, Anatolian Arms LLC was registered in March 2019. William Michael Johnson is listed as the organizer of the business.
In response to a BBB inquiry regarding how the business was addressing a pattern of customer complaints, Anatolian Arms LLC said a spike in orders and supply chain issues were the main problems in fulfilling orders in a timely manner.
“We are working to get the wait times reduced,” the business wrote in its response. “We understand that they are long and we are working to hire more staff and increase production which is what most of the complaints seem to be stemming from.”
The business currently has a pop-up warning on the website titled “Shipping & Order Delays.”
“Orders are being processed and shipped as fast as we can produce and package them!” the note reads. “… By closing this window and continuing Anatolian Arms, you acknowledge that your order will be processed and shipped in the order it was received, and that Anatolian Arms will only provide updates as they become available.”
In December 2021, Anatolian Arms LLC was ordered to pay the Sacramento Gun Club nearly $340,000 due to a judgment in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of California. Anatolian Arms LLC was sued for failing to fulfill an order.
BBB offers these tips on how to avoid online shopping problems:
- Research any business and its owners before paying any money. Check the company’s BBB Business Profile at BBB.org or contact your local BBB office.
- Be wary of sales or prices that seem too good to be true. In many of these cases, the items do not exist or are of poor quality.
- Read all terms and conditions before completing a purchase. Make sure to understand expected delivery dates and refund policies. Know your options in case you receive an item that was not as advertised.
- Pay by credit card whenever possible in case you need to challenge the payment.
- Check a site’s security settings. If the site is secure, its URL (web address) should start with “HTTPS://.” You may also see a picture of a small closed lock in the screen's lower right-hand corner.
