I've been trying to reach out the office for days to clarify with this matter and got no luck, after how many attempts of phone call I got on hold for a hours and get no one to pick up the phone. After almost a month of renting we got invoice. How sure am I it's from the original service when we had it after how many days plus the fact when we hand it over to the person upon returning, I clearly ask for any extra charges and he went to check the mileage for me and noted for "no charge at all and I am good to go" the transparency of the transaction is so unprofessional and unethical. SO many hidden charges given the fact IT's NOT UNLIMITED MILEAGE if your Alberta and ECTRA CHARGE FOR GOING OUT OF THE PROVINCE which was not on fineprint. THeir license to operate should be revoke.

1) 2 hour wait to rent car 2) Did not inform us you needed insurance- line was huge because everyone was calling their insurance companies and credit card companies trying to buy insurance 3) Reserved car for $360 fee. Had to pay $30 a day extra for their insurance. Stated we needed to pay $10 more a day for an additional driver- we opted to have one driver. We asked if there was ANY other fees and they stated no.4) Chose a drop off time of 11 pm- there location closed at 10:30 pm thank god we checked or we would have been charged an extra day and had been screwed since we had a flight that night.5) Told everything was fine when we dropped the car off then received a $760 charge for out of province usage. Went from a $360 rental to $760 and they do not warn you about these charges- the price looks to good to be true when you reserve BECAUSE IT IS.6) Called their customer service and was basically told it's my own fault because I should have paid $10 extra a day for out of province fee. They NEVER mentioned this and I asked if there was any more fees- they stated no. I would not have left the province OR would have been that fee at the counter if I had known prior.7) We went out of province for a day and they charged us a $30 per day that we rented the car penalty fee... we didn't leave the province every day- that's a huge **** and borderline **********. 8) When I addressed this with employees they told me that's my fault and I need to speak to "Stress Free Rentals" where we booked the car because they don't charge us. Even though the invoice and credit card statement clearly states "ROUTES *******". AWFFFFFFFFUL and totally unethical behavior. Do yourself a favor and go with the more reputable companies that show the actual price upfront. I would have added more to the story but there is a maximum character limit. Not worth the few dollars saved. Not at the airport, had to wait 20 minutes for a shuttle, had to wait 30 minutes at check in, had to wait 30 minutes at Drop off!!! Charge extra for out of province, limit local licenses to 200 km a day. People were nice but it doesnt make up for it. Ill spend the extra $50 next time.

BEWARE AND STAY AWAY! We booked through 3rd party company (EconomyBookings) and the booking process was flawless. But experience at the 'Routes YYC (*******) airport' was horrible. We didn't get the car we booked, it wasn't an upgrade, and it was extremely dirty inside.But the biggest disappointment was the extra charge for going 'out of province'. NOBODY explained this to us upon signing the contract. And you have to sign the contract electronically on your phone screen, they do not even print it. It looks like a complete scam, because those charges basically doubled our initial booking cost. They charged $30+ tax extra for EACH day, even though we went our of province just twice. And it's easy to do, because some trails go back and forth between Alberta and BritishColumbia, but we didn't even bother tracking it because NOBODY explained these scam charges to us.All our attempts to resolve this issues went nowhere, numerous call, emails, so writing this in order to warn everyone. Please BEWARE and STAY AWAY of them, terrible experience.

routes car rentals is a totally bad option when renting a car you book on line then when you get there they want a 1500 $$ deposit and tell you the is no unlimited milage and tell you that you should of look up the the rental agreement that says locals Albertans don't get unlimited milage and there will be a 1500$$ damage deposit to rent one of their cars. total scam i would not recommend them at all

If you are ******** don't rent here, their business model is to take your insurance and then the charges rack up from there because of course you are not going to claim rock chips or scratches. Also for Local customers they only allow 200km, and then more charges. On ******* they filter to unlimited miles but in the fine print they have the local customer clause and hide behind *******

Beware of Routes Car Rental. These guys are professional ********. Any positive review is fake. They are masters of phoney damage claims, bait and switch, and general dishonest business practises.

What seemed like a good deal got more expensive at every turn surcharges and extra fees. Do not recommend. The front end staff was friendly but they are out to get every extra penny they can.

The worst car rental experience Ive ever had. They said theyd be 10 minutes but took 50 minutes to pick me up with the shuttle. When I called to check in the dispatcher kept saying 5 more minutes. I made a mistake of not reading the fine print and did not have a high enough limit on my CC and they wouldnt accept **** Debit for the deposit. My bad. When I asked for a refund and explained I had booked with Expedia they told me to submit through Expedia and a refund would be processed. When Expedia contacted them they did not honour the refund. I sat at the airport with my baby for 5 hours and its not like they couldnt have rented the car out to another person right away, they just took my money after a horrible experience. I dont usually do this but I hope this review loses them the $160.00++ they kept of mine, and then some.
