      Went to Sunshine auto for an oil change, they put the wrong filter on or double seal it fell off and fried the engine. The replace the engine with a used one. Three months later there is a squeak and took it to ***************** (************). He found a cracked flex plate he believe it was caused by the missing dowel pin not put back in when they installed the transmission. The also missed a PCV hose so the engine was sucking in air since we got it. ************ informed us we could have lost our transmission and damage the engine. In total the bills came to ****. I called to talk to them and they hung up on me.

      The customer (*******************) had an oil change done on his truck and the next day we received an email from him that his engine oil filter had flew off when he was leaving **********.  We were abit suspicious that his truck managed to get from Inglewood to ********** and be driven around for a day with a loose filter then come "flying off" as he put it.  We had him tow the truck to the shop and we ended up replacing his engine for free, with a used engine with less kilometres on it then the original engine from his truck.  The customer was informed that being a used engine the warranty on it from the supplier was only 60 days and that if he had any issues he could bring it back within that time frame.  The customer was also given a courtesy vehicle in the mean time while the engine was being replaced.  The truck was returned to the customer on July 21/2021 and we did not hear anything back from the customer until the beginning of March 2022.  When the customer called he was told that the warranty on the engine had expired and if there was a problem right from when he took the truck (as he now claims) he should have contacted our shop as he had been directed when picking the vehicle up.

      I am rejecting this response because: first of all we live in ******** not **********. We did drive it home 60km then parked it in the morning on **** Street ******** it fell off leaving a large grease ****. They did agree that a wrong filter was install and they would put a replacement engine. We are not disputing the engine and thank them for that. We are disputing the workmanship of the install. They missed a dowel pin on the one side of the transmission and a *** hose so it was sucking air the entire time we had it. The missing dowel pin means there could be damage to the transmission and it eventually cracked the flex plate. The *** hose that was missing could cause damage to the catalytic converters. So even if it was more than 60 days none of this would have happened if the install was done correctly.
