Took my e-bike in for service. Initially to my regular mechanic. Was told it would need a new chain and cassette but that they didn't work on e-bikes. They sent me over to Power in Motion. PIM took a look. An employee rode the bike around the front of the store inside ********** mall - tested the motor and the gearing. They confirmed the chain was stretched and the cassette needed to be replaced. Asked I leave it for a couple days. Came back two days later. I was told that the mechanic checked the bike out. They tried to remove the cassette but determined that they could not without a special tool and re-directed me to the supplier in BC where I purchased the bike from. They also stated that the chain was not replaced as it looks good and "no charge for the service check" today. I pushed the bike out to the parking lot. I turned it on and started to ride it away. I instantly noticed that the motor was not assisting. I looked down at the hub motor and saw that the main exiting wire looked damaged. And that there were a few different coloured wires torn and sticking out of the side of the main wire near the cassette. I took it straight back and showed it to them. I indicated that I was able to ride my bike in to the store with the motor working fine. Now it doesn't work. And you can clearly see newly damaged wires sticking out of the side of the motor????? What happened?Their employee instantly went on the defensive. And indicated that perhaps it was me that had damaged the motor? An argument ensued. He indicated that on the "work order" - the mechanic made note of some kind of pre-existing damage.???? I asked him to explain - that even if this is the case, how could I have powered it on, rode it down to the store, left it with them, and now the motor won't respond after being worked on by the mechanic. With fresh looking damage to the main motor wiring? As a daily commuter bike with ****s of kms on it, I frequently inspect that part of the bike to make sure the motor isn't getting loose. So no way. No damage the day I brought it in. His final statement was "be careful what you say". I left with my newly damaged bike. He smugly offered that I leave it with them again, and he would have his mechanic take another look at it. But at this stage- there was no way anyone would feel comfortable to leave it with them. I left. Spent the weekend trying to repair the damaged wires which was near impossible and very temporary. Took some photos of the repair which I will gladly share with the owner if they are interested. Very disappointing. And based on the previous review, this isn't the first example of questionable service. I never leave BBB reviews - but the owner of this business needs to know what their employees did to my bike. At this point in time it will be very difficult and likely very expensive to get some kind of permanent repair to the motor wiring.

Steps we took to serve *********************:1. We did our work as normal, and started by removing the rear wheel to change the cassette. When we realized that we would require a speciality tool that we are not able to aquire. We put it back together. 2. Doing this specific job, it is not possible to cause this sort of damage that was on your bike. 3. Typically, when we see this sort of damage it has been caused by months or years of misuse and neglect to the bike. (Repeated dropping or leaning or rubbing on that side of motor).4. We have been working ebikes for over 15 years, and the mechanic that did your work has been working on bike for over ****. It is unfair, and irresponsible on ********************* part to claim that we damaged his bike. When there is no evidence that it was our fault, and when the bike in question was in an already questionable state of repair.
