Parked at Park2Go April *****, 2022. At time of pickup and having already paid my parking fee, I discovered a large crack in driver side window that was not there when the vehicle was dropped off. Have been informed by the regional manager that the company will not take responsibility and that the crack was caused naturally. Interestingly, the cracked window was rolled down upon pickup so not immediately visible. Spoke with a supervisor who gave me a number for the regional manager and was told to contact that person during business hours two days later. Initial response was that the vehicle had a chip or stress in the window. Several days later it is a natural occurrence. Took vehicle to a glass shop and could find no stress point. It was pointed out that these are very hard windows to break. Explained that to regional manager who simply replied that they would not take responsibility.Estimated replacement cost is about $400.

Thank you for reaching out once again.

Park2Go management in ******* did respond to guest Mr. **** *****. Unfortunately we are not responsible for damages out of our control.  Our manager did explain this to the guest but, guest was not content with the explanation that we are not responsible for windshield cracks. Please see correspondence with Mr. ***** below.

We do our best to take care of your vehicle while it is in our care. Some things happen naturally and are not in our control.
Based on my 14 years of experience and some knowledge gained from vehicle glass replacement shops, the only reason a vehicle glass would crack is because there is an existing rock chip that was not fixed. A rock chips creates a week point in the glass and that compromises the strength of the glass. When the temperature fluctuates inside and outside the vehicle, the glass cracks naturally. The glass doesnt develop a crack if there is no rock chip or a week point.Rock chips would happen when you are driving the vehicle on the highway and piece of gravel hits the glass with great force.

Below are some copy and paste sentences from the web pages:
Damage that goes unnoticed: in the winter, chips and cracks fill with moisture from snow and ice. When the condensation freezes and expands, the chips and cracks will grow.
In addition to the usual culprits that can happen any time of year (debris, rock chips, stray baseballs, etc.), the weather itself can cause cracks.
Glass is actually very sensitive to temperature. Although you cant see it, glass contracts in the cold and expands in the heat. This means that extreme temperaturesand particularly large swings in temperaturecan be hard on glass.

Park2Go is not responsible for windshield cracks.

      Thank you

      Best.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

A quick email to let you know that the response from the business here is not satisfactory.

While they note correspondence with myself, there was never any correspondence. Heck, they can’t even get my name correct.

Is the manager a glass engineer?  Or simply someone grabbing information off the internet?

This was not a windshield that cracked. This was the driver side door glass.  Very different. There were no chips or stresses. I have asked for security tape and they claim to not have any.  The workers had rolled the window down (something they don’t normally do) so as to hide the damage. All quite suspicious.

To me this business is not acting honestly. I see the case is now closed as I misinterpreted the seven-day period (thinking it was seven days after I had read the response). However, for the record the business did not respond properly and did not own up to the damage.

What would have been satisfactory would have been some honesty and an offer to ‘share in the cost’ of the repair. This business, which I have used for years, has totally disappointed me.  To date this year I have probably used the business 10 times. They had a loyal customer. They do not any longer.

      Sincerely,

      **** *****
