Early spring 2023. Went to D&W for a quote on an engine rebuild. Rod gave me a written quote. I went home discussed with my husband. Called Rod a couple weeks after. Told him we wanted to proceed. He asked for base build price as a deposit which was $4600. I agreed to drop off the deposit along with the running core. May 14,2023. Showed up atD&W's shop. Went in and talked to Rod. I gave him $4600 cash. Put it on the counter and counted it twice to make sure all was there. He took the cash and put it in a drawer behind the counter and wrote on my invoice which I thought was a note on for my deposit given. He told me to take the core to the side of the shop and guys would help unload. Did as I was told. *** eventually came out and made a comment on my lifted **** truck. I left. Called *** shortly after telling him I had a nice carb that I wanted installed on the engine. He said they don't install carbs at the shop but he said a guy from the shop will go to our farm directly and install and adjust components. I said great!Several months went by and I stopped in and had a quick chat with *** about engine. He said he was sourcing parts (crank)from a guy named ***. No mention of a missing deposit or anything. I left. A bit upset at no progress. But decided to wait it out a bit. March 27,2024 at approximately 9:00 am Went into D&W shop. Rod wasn't in but another guy from the back came up. I asked for my invoice on the engine job. He pulled it out of Rods confirmed job wooden filling box.I took pics and video. I explained briefly why I was there. He called *** and said he would be 15 mins.Rod came in after. I explained to him its been a year. I came in before and talked to you. He affirmed this.I explained that I couldn't wait any longer and I wanted to cancel. He said "So you just want to cancel the job?" I said yes as he admitted as much that he hadn't started on my engine. He ended up refusing to refund the $4600and then denied starting the job ect.ect.
