On January 14, 2020 my unit has been affected by the flood. As a result, my property sustained substantial damage to the flooring in the kitchen, dining room and the entry areas. On January 15, 2020 the crew from the ******* *********** ******** removed the flooring from the affected areas. No flooring has been removed from the living room area at that time as this area was not affected by the flood (as per the pictures sent with the supporting documents). Next day, I had a conversation with **** ****** (the owner of the ******* *********** ********), ***** **** (from the ******* Board of Directors) and the Insurance Adjuster who came to visit my suite. I was informed that the entire floor (in the living room, dining room, kitchen and entry) is going to be replaced (not only the damaged boards) including the good/undamaged flooring in the living room and the suite entry areas. The rationale behind this decision, as I was explained, was “to ensure the cohesive look of the flooring by making sure there are no shade discrepancies between the undamaged flooring and the new floor boards that need to be ordered”. The good/undamaged flooring has been removed the next day. At no point was I informed that the original floor has been discontinued and I will be getting entirely different flooring and will no longer have the continuous flooring in my entire suite including my bedroom. The Board decided not to file a claim through the insurance company but rather use special levies option to cover the cost of repairs. The good boards were taken from my suite to restore another suite to its original condition (without my authorization) . The Board refused to replace the flooring in my bedroom in order to ensure my suite is restored to its original condition despite the fact that other suites were properly restored. I was advised to contact my insurance company to cover the costs of the bedroom floor replacement. The insurance company, however, informed me that since the Board decided to take care of the repairs and partial repairs have already been completed, the insurance is not going to cover the bedroom floor replacement. I am seeking reimbursement from the Board for the bedroom floor replacement in my suite. I don’t see any reason why my suite should be treated differently than any other suite that have been restored to their original condition (especially when my floor has been used to restore the other suite). I also don’t see any reason why my suite shouldn’t be restore to its original condition just because the Board decided not to file a claim through the insurance company. Regards, ***** *******
