Purchased a welding helmet and when I tried to use it while welding it malfunctioned multiple times and I ended up getting flashed by the very bright welding arc as a result. I contacted the email on my receipt (item was final sale and would need to go through email if damaged). I was refused a refund even though I have the receipt and packaging. A defective welding lens can cause permanent damage to the eyes therefore I can not sell or donate this product either. An exchange or gift card is not an option as I will not risk another defect that is so dangerous.Initial Complaint

purchased a glass display cabinet with led lighting at the beginning of march 2023. and was missing parts right out of packaging. contacted there claims department was told to wire the lights all the led lights together as per the videos they sent. followed there instructions and still was missing parts, wanted to return or swap for another one was told they don't do returns and would send out the missing parts. Waited over a month for the parts once finally received there are the wrong led parts and they sent a cheap led strip. that it useless.Initial Complaint

Bought a Kids electric UTV. owner at the store the manager would not let me open the box. he assured me the UTV was the same as the display model . when i got home to put it together the tires were plastic. the floor model had rubber tires. he said it was a finale sale i would not be able to return the product. I paid over $700,00 for the item and can not do anything about it. so this is a warning to all people shopping at the Edmonton Location. don't take the managers word before buying anything at this store location.Initial Complaint

March 24, 2023. Purchased a NEW 1000W LITHIUM SOLAR POWER GENERATOR. After charging battery to 100% using provided cord the battery immediately started to drain. Possible short cct? Was in a hurry and didn't realize until later "no return or cash refund" printed on the invoice after the fact. Who would have thought this also pertained to defective products? Called Uncle Weiner and was directed to their online complaints... who are at this moment contacting the manufacturer. I believe they only replace broken parts. I see no manufacturer warranty let alone a CSA label. Was in a hurry... Needed this for my vacation this week but now i am out $179.95 plus tax.Initial Complaint

Visited the Brandon Manitoba location of Uncle Wieners with my family, mother and grandmother on Feb.18, 2023. When done and leaving the store I had fallen on the ice while carrying my 2 year old daughter. The store employees had to call an ambulance. They had said they had been trying for weeks to get the owner to clear the lot or sand/salt but nothing had ever happened. I wound up with muscle damage in my back, written off work and have an ambulance bill and was told by the company too bad we aren't doing anything for you. As a single father of three this makes me very angry but even worse that they take no accountability and do not care about the safety of there customers at all.Initial Complaint

Approximately June 08, 2022, I attended - for the first and last time - Uncle Wiener's Wholesale at 156 street and 135 ave (?) in Edmonton, Alberta. I walked 20 feet into the store and was greeted (intercepted) by a young caucasian male (the "manager"?) with a very snotty and very confrontational attitude and actions. That's a story in itself but not my reason for this complaint. The reason I am filing a complaint is because; staff that is completely unprofessional (untrained.?), an impressive lack of knowledge about the products they are "selling", and then the pain of paying for the purchases ! The staff is either chinese or filipino and their grasp of the english language is very poor. Their customer service is non existent and hostile / argumentative - just from simple questions, not even the customer being argumentative first! The staff initiates the conflict and then won't let the customer speak and talks over top of the customer, and then falls back on their standard defense of telling the customer that they are the ones with the bad attitude! Absolutely ludicrous!!! Oh, and they billed me 25 dollars for a neon wall hanging I never purchased or have ever had any urge / interest in owning. I don't have a single neon anything, or any wall hangings that illuminate. Not my personality or lifestyle to own anything neon. So,, I called them about the incorrect billing, and they talk over top of me, say they treated me very well, tell me that they will only offer an in store exchange on purchased products - even after my explaining that they can't do an exchange for an item that was never purchased in the first place! I think that's fraud, theft, and maybe even larceny(??). The flashlight I bought (for real) is defective, the neon wall hanging was never purchased or even handled, the business is completely illusive and aggressively defensive, the management is just a title with zero professionalism, the staff are illiterate, and the bbb complaints are amazing!Initial Complaint

October 21, 2021 I purchased an animal cage/enclosure. Within the first week of use, the enclosure began to rust. I contacted the company. After a couple of emails, I was told to return the item to the store for an exchange of the same product. When I returned the defective product, I was not given another receipt, just a direct exchange of the item. The second enclosure began to rust as well. I emailed the company on January 3, 2022 to let them know this enclosure was also rusting. Since then I have heard nothing back from the company. This store does not offer refunds, or I would have just returned the item after the first time it started rusting.Initial Complaint

I purchased a 13000 lbs winch from Uncle Weiner's a month ago for $469.95 plus tax. I brought it home and it doesn’t work. I tried to return bat the store but they denied this and told me to email costumer service. I’ve emailed them multiple times and have not received a response at all. All I am looking for is to exchange it for a new one that works.Initial Complaint

I purchased an egg incubator from Uncle Wiener’s and after opening it found the door damaged. The damage was more than likely from a forklift and was hidden behind a large flexible label. You could not really notice the damage unless you opened the packaging. Because of the nature of the item I am concerned that damaged door will alter its use and success rate. I contacted the company and they offered a $30 store credit. The cost of the unit was $900 plus tax. I asked if the door could be replaced or exchange for an undamaged unit. There has been no reply to my inquiries. The unit was bought Oct 13/21 but wasn’t set up until the beginning of December as it was a Christmas gift - hatching to be done for Christmas. The last contact I had was Dec 16/21. I would like the door fixed/replaced or the unit exchanged.Initial Complaint

On October 24, 2021, I went to Uncle Weiner’s and purchased four tub chairs at a cost of $169.95 plus GST each. After paying for the chairs, the invoice states all sales final, which I wasn’t aware of, but I figured I’d seen the chairs and they would suffice. After a purchase is made, a person has to go to the warehouse to get the merchandise, which I did. The four boxes were loaded on my truck and I brought them home and unloaded them into my garage until my reno was done. When I went to get the chairs, I noticed the price on the box was $119.95! Fifty dollars less than I was charged! I should mention the lower price was not a price sticker, it was part of the picture on box. The boxes had been loaded into my truck upside down so I hadn’t noticed the price difference. When I went back to the store with my complaint, I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager. When I explained my problem, I was told there was nothing they could do, that the only error they made was the old price should have been covered up. I explained they couldn’t charge me an extra $210.00 with the GST. I was given a business card with an email address and told to forward my complaint to the address. I did that on November 3rd and had a reply the same day, saying a ticket would be generated and I would hear something within 24 to 48 hours. On November 8th, I sent another email as I had still not heard anything. Now, it’s the 12th and I still haven’t had a response. In my complaint to the business, I said in an ideal situation, they’d take the chairs back and give me a full refund. Otherwise, the very least they could do was refund what I was overcharged - $210.00 with GST. * **** **** *** *** **** ** *** **** **** ** ***********
