*** ***** ****** ***** charges large deposits upfront for appointments and refuses to put through predeterminations to insurance companies to help patients make more informed decisions. They refuse to refund these large deposits even if the service is not completed. They do not inform patients of their cancellation fee policy when taking deposits over the phone. ** ***** applies high-pressure sales tactics without fully informing the patient of the total cost. In fact, he misleads the patient into thinking the full treatment is less than it is and then springs other surprise charges on you as you go along. He and his staff are dishonest on purpose. I believe they do not put through predeterminations so that the patient cannot be aware of the total cost of treatment at the start. ** ***** explains things in a way that patients are left feeling confused and like things are worse than they are, they then feel bullied into proceeding with the treatment, and he extorts them by ordering radiographs, moulds, etc. that they do not need and are given no opportunity to consent to. I need more space to tell you my full story. Essentially, I was verbally told to proceed with treatment on my tooth would cost $5,152. I was asked to pay a $1,000 deposit for an appointment, which I did by credit card. I was given no cancellation policy information over the phone and was never told it was non-refundable. I was never sent a receipt for this payment. On the day of the appointment, I was informed that $5,152 was just for that day’s work, not the full course of treatment, which would cost $10,000. I could not afford that so I told them I had to cancel. ** ***** ***** came into the room and verbally abused me in front of his staff – he said I had wasted his time, that he was ‘really pissed off’, and to ‘get out of his office’. I stressed that I was willing to pay a reasonable cancellation fee as per his cancellation policy (that he would not provide me with), but he refused.
