****** was hired to remove handrails, replace one handrail and runners up and down the stairs, and make nosing for where the handrail wasn't being replaced. He put the handrail together the first time and 2 of the spindles were't level and spacing between was uneven. Before he took it apart I asked him if he was confident this was something he could do and he assured me he could. He took it apart and fixed it. The filler pieces where not cut well, some are raised and others have large gaps, he got glue on 4 carpeted stairs, the runners don't cover the edge of the carpet and are not flush with the wall. He text to say he was sick 2 days in a row and wouldn't be coming back to finish the job. We called twice, left 2 voicemails and after 12 days I sent him a text asking him to reimburse the amount we paid him, $1488.23, as I had another company come give a quote to finish the job and found out it is not up to code, it's about 3" too short. I have to repurchase all the materials.
