Electrical Contractor failed to complete the job as per the city permit. This started December 23, 2022. When I refused to pay until the city advised the permit was complete they sent me to collections. Once I agreed to pay 50% of the bill, they took back the collections. Agreement was when work was complete we would pay the remaining 50%. Instead they did not do anything, so i hired another contractor to complete. They then charged me for accruing interest for a job they never completed. I am willing to pay the remaining 50% to get rid of them and not have to deal with their threats about reporting to collections but I am not willing to pay the interest.Business response

We completed the electrical install of the subpanel and hot tub Jan/22. Returned Feb 10 to adjust the placement of a cable as requested. We then invoiced for the completed work and called for final inspection. Inspector (Isp.) reported that the CSA/UL(C/U) sticker looked wrong. We called ******** at our expense and it escalated in their department after inspection. ******** emailed, stating the label was fraudulent and a cease and desist was sent to the manufacturer. Client purchased the hot tub from ******* From Feb 22 to May 22 payment was requested many times as the job was complete and the C/U label was out of our hands, but the client refused to pay until the permit was marked complete. We found this to be unreasonable. After sending a final demand letter for payment on May 20, no response was received and it was sent to collections. We negotiated a 50% payment to remove the acct. from collections and the remaining 50% would be paid once the permit was completed. The letter from collections stated there was interest owing and no complaint was made at that point. Isp. reached out in Nov 22 that the client had called about the placement of a new tub in Oct. We reached out and did not receive a response. We reached out again (1 week later) and the client responded that we didn't offer help in finding a solution and that they had hired another company to reconnect the new tub, which was done on our existing electrical equipment and permit. Client refused to pay interest so we agreed to take interest off if paid by Dec 9 as we were tired of dealing with this client. Dec 7 they paid the balance owing, with no interest and reported us to BBB. This tub was not purchased through us and the tub was able to be used while waiting for resolution; we believe we were in the right to demand payment. It is not feasible to expect a company to cover the costs of labour and parts over an entire year due to a manufacturer error not made by us.Customer response
