  I had the company perform work, the bill used a narrative to describe the work done, I asked for a breakdown as to labour and materials, was given a new invoice; but the invoice total and the breakdown did not match. I requested an explanation, provided details of my concern, advised that I preferred to deal direct with the company for an explanation, and also stated I intended to file a complaint with BBB in the absence of an explanation. That was over a week ago and the company neither acknowledged receiving my email nor have they provided a reply of any kind. I did pay the invoice as a matter of good faith, and I did not have a job quote for the performed work. Hence the request for a breakdown of the invoice. I have no issue with the quality of the performed work, but I question why the invoice cannot be detailed and accurate. I would like the matter resolved

  I am rejecting this response because: I do not see it as logical. But, having paid the billings and doubting that any real sense can be made of Clive response I wish the case to be closed.

  I would like to thank Clive for the details set out in his response, and his attempt at an explanation. The explanation as to the change of piping from 25 feet to 40 feet is certainly creative (and may be true) but to not set this out in the invoice (or in the telephone conversation I had with the office staff) is certainly suspect. Further, when you cost out the material set out by Clive and compare it to the invoiced total for material ($414.34) there is a further discrepancy of $91.57,...in our favor.  As for the per foot cost of the 1 1/2 inch pipe, unless I have misunderstood the type of pipe used, that pipe can be purchase in 10 foot lengths for pricing in the $40-50 range. If correct, the upcharge would be in the 260% range,...certainly eye catching.

  For the record, prior to retiring I worked in the banking business for some 33 years, close to 20 of those years in what was/is dispute resolution. While the work performed by Burnaby Irrigation is not a point of concern, and I have no issue with the cost of the work (had it been clearly identified and transparent), I do believe that the accounting/invoicing presented to me has been worthy of unquestioned acceptance.
