I phoned Tyler at Electric Avenue in regards to my under cabinet lighting installation. However, I am feeling uneasy with the price that I paid for his services. What was supposed to be a free quote turned into me spending $270 and left me feeling that I was taken advantage of. I believe the work conducted does not equal the money paid for his services. I agreed to have Tyler extend the wiring into so that we could add another puck light for our under cabinet lighting. Tyler did less than 5 minutes of work, cut more holes in my wall than needed and put an approximate 3 foot wire in my wall and looped it out another hole. The wire he had “installed” also isn't near the area that he had marked as centre. I was also under the impression that the wire would have been connected to the electrical box at the base of the wall. I am not sure how you he can justify the amount I was charged. Again, he was coming to do a free estimate. I understand most trades persons have an hourly rate when conducting work but this was never discussed as being added to his costs. After he left, I spoke with some friends who are Electricians as well as spoke with a few other companies and they said the charge should have been $50-$100 depending on the Electrician, one even said they would have done it for free to make a client and keep business. Tyler also wasn’t upfront and honest about his costs. He had me sign the agreement after showing me another contract with different pricing. I am not one to write these reviews, *** **** ***** ********* ** and hoping we can come to an agreement of a refund.

This is Tyler C******* owner of Electric Avenue. I have discussed *******’s concerns over the pricing and we have come to a resolution.

******* contacted me at 8:30 pm on a Thursday.  He was in a rush to have an electrician come over since he was taking the Friday off of work to have the **** demolition crew remove his cabinets.  He also said that he needed all the rough in for his under cabinet lights to be done for his drywaller that was coming the next day.  I had to postpone another clients work in order to accommodate his request and I came out the next morning to provide him a quote within 15 hours of him first making contact with me.

The commute to *******s home is about 40 minutes each way.  I provided ******* a free quote prior to starting any work. If he chose not to go ahead with the work I would have charged him anything.  He authorized my charges and signed the estimate.  ******* had 4 locations that he had existing under cabinet lights.  The demolition crew cit some of the wires short, this would interfere with them being able to be utilized after the cabinets were installed.  I was able to remove some staples from his existing puck light cables, reroute the cables to create enough slack in the wires to be accessible after the cabinets were installed.  I also work with ******* to help him understand that a false shelf with routered out cable channel would be needed to provide an access point for the cable and splices needed.  I drew him a picture of what was needed.  I also supplied and installed a cable that would be needed to provide power to the fifth new puck light location.

******* is correct about the cable not being entered, this is because it would have meant additional unnecessary cutting of the drywall since we were told that **** would provide a ****** for the cables to run through.  At the end of the work ******* paid me for the inspection and modifications of his existing under cabinet wiring, and low voltage cable installation.  ******* said that, he has a friend that is an electrician and contacted other electrical companies that would have done it cheeper.  *
