On Saturday, June 25th my family and I sought overnight accommodation at Motel 6 in Kamloops, BC. The website portrayed a well run motel with comforts of a pool, sauna, etc. We felt it would be a suitable stay for our family (which included 2 adults, 2 seniors and 3 children ages 2-8). We booked two rooms - one for our family of 5 (paying: $138.03)and one for parents traveling with us (paying:$126.98) - for a total of $265.01. Upon arrival at the motel we started to feel uneasy about the place and our first impressions. It was clear that what was advertised was far from the reality of operations (pool area was empty and the space was piled with garbage; seemed evident that questionable activities were happening onsite). We tried to give the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to check in and proceed to our rooms. Within a short period of time it was clear that there was an altercation brewing between other guests of the motel - and a police presence was going to be needed. It became evident that Motel 6 would not be a suitable place for our family to remain - for fear of safety, and the desire for a restful night, not one of worry - we decided we had no choice but to leave and seek accommodation elsewhere. The owner understood, and agreed to refund us for the 2 rooms we had booked. He indicated that a delay in processing would be necessary as it had to go through accounting and would be processed via **transfer. We followed up with Motel 6 on June 30th, July 11th and weekly since then - each time expressing our desire for the status of our refund, and each time receiving a guarantee that the refund was going to be processed and we would receive a call back. The manner in which the refund has been handled has been very unprofessional. It is August 3rd and we still have not received our refund, and can no longer believe what we are being told by the owner. It is our belief that the owner has no intention of following up on our request or processing our refund.
