I contacted Mr Rooter Kamloops regarding a frozen pipe. The lady I spoke with said it would be a $94 travel fee and we would not be charged any more unless we approved a quote. I confirmed they could work on 500ft line and she agreed. The tech came a couple days later and charged $404.25 without any approval and said they can't work on lines that long. I have been arguing with the company to get money back because he shouldnt have been sent out at all if that was the case, and we were told we would not be charged more than the travel fee without our consent. The company has the phone call in their records and has reviewed it and just claim the lady I spoke with didn't know better and refuse to honor the information she provided. I would highly recommend you avoid as they will tell you one thing and then charge another. If I could leave 0 stars I would.Review from Patrick

If you have a slow flushing toilet, get a bucket of water and pour it in- If it flushes easily, then the problem is the toilet. Mr. Rooter made no effort to try to "fix" the toilet, and instead removed the toilet and "determined" with their camera that there was a plug in the drainage line, although another identical toilet on the same floor as well as the tub beside the toilet had no issues. After replacing a pipe underneath my front lawn and a bill for $3,600 dolars, there was no improvement on the toilet flushing whatsoever. An online search on the topic said the holes in the rim are likely calcified, and an $8.00 bottle of *** fixed the problem. They assured me that the plug in the lines was real, but nevertheless settled with a $1000 credit ******* ***** ****** ******Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Kamloops Response

Hi ***, as we have discussed at length with you, your sewer line was backed up. It was not just your toilet. We were able to diagnose this because when we took the toilet off the flange, there was water in the pipe. That doesn’t happen if it’s just the toilet that is the problem. We stand firm that our diagnosis was correct. Yes, we did settle out of court some time ago. This means that this was not put in front of a judge, hence, we were not deemed at fault. It just means that we were done going back and forth and this seemed the easiest solution to move forward. We hope you can do that same.Customer Response

You continue to insist that the water level in the toilet drain was up to the flange - That might have been a great selling point, since I was sitting maybe 20 feet away from you, to show me that the level was as you state it was, as it would have been very clear, had you done so, that there was a drainage issue, but you did no such thing. You did "try to show me" the low contrast b/w picture on your camera screen, of the "blockage", as it were, which I could at best see from a steep angle, bending over and looking upside down to me, if that matters, as your screen was entirely blocked from me, as I would have had to climb over it to see it from your vantage point., and truth be told, I had no expertise on what that camera showed any more than were I looking at a medical X-ray. Even IF I could see it straight on as you claim, it flies in the face of logic, that were this true, then my toilet, when flushed, would raise in the bowl and having me run for a plunger, as there would be no place for the tank water to go, which was NEVER the case. It also flies in the face of logic to me, that were it up to the flange on MY toilet, then my wife's same exact toilet, on the same level, some 30 feet away, might have exhibited the same flushing issues. (and all other dains for that matter), as they would all have been affected by the same blockage in the front of my yard that goes to the city sewer. I'll let others decide as they will.Review from Christopher T

DO NOT USE, caused damage and refused to pay. I hired Mr. Rooter Kamloops for a very small copper pipe repair. I had tired several companies and due to a cold snap all were very busy, however, offered advice and warning about the situation due to the cold weather. Before the technician arrived the company was warned in writing and the tech warned verbally before repairs began about the cold weather. The tech chose to ignore the warning and used inappropriate tools for the situation. This caused a break in the pipe and over $5000 in damage. The tech just said “… there is nothing more I can do.” The city had to shut off the water main after the basement began to flood. The tech just left. Mr. Rooter Kamloops expected me to pay the repair bill for the damage their technician cause. **** ** *** ****** *** ******** ******* *** *** ************ ** **** ********** ********** ***** ***** ****** **** ***** ******. The company is blaming the state of the material, which later was discovered to be just fine, but the cold weather required more delicate tools and methods to avoid a break, again they were told this in advance. The company refuses to cover the repair cost. Do not use nor trust this company ** **** ******* ** *** **** *** ********** ** ********* ** ******** **** ** * ***** *** *********** *******Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Kamloops Response

Hi *****, as we have previously discussed, the appropriate and approved tools were used. As we have already discussed this privately, at length, we will omit the details of our response. I would like to mention that the service technician that attended the call did not simply say "there was nothing else he could do". He was advised by management to leave site as the tenant was yelling and throwing items around in anger. We do not tolerate that behaviour, hence why we left site. You declined our offer to make the necessary repairs. We are, however, glad you have had the situation resolved in the home.Customer Response

Thank you, I have spoken to the tenant, again, after your tech was explicitly told not to do what he did warning him what would happen is exactly what happened, the appropriate tools were not used based on the advise of 5 other plumbers, the tenant was trying to save his expensive tools from the basement being flooded due to the negligence of the technician. I still expect you to do the right thing, the tenant will have his own claim against your company for property damage.
