My husband bought 2 gift cards May 11th (for Mothers Day) as gifts from Shoppers Drug Mart (value $150). Upon activating both cards have a $0 balance (both cards were sealed and we have the receipt). Amazon accused us of using money and trying to scam more. Shoppers Drug Mart said they investigated and the cards were properly activated and the money was spent and theres nothing they can do. **************** at the store was horrible (no return call from manager, on hold for 2 hours, not our problem response). Upon going on the Shoppers Drug Mart website, Ive discovered how many people this has happened to. We would love the value of the cards (as they were gifts for Mothers Day). More importantly, if they know this is happening, they need to lock up their cards like other stores do. It is so unfair people are consistently losing hard earned money when buying a gift card and expecting it to have money on it. *** spent 6 hours trying to resolve this issue on Saturday and the response from Shoppers Drug Mart was disappointing. *** spoken to several people who have also lost money on gift cards. Shoppers needs to investigate further as to why so many gift cards have a $0 balance! So disappointing!Business response

I apologize for the inconvenience you are having. Gift Cards are usually non- refundable and any issues regarding that can be addressed to Shoppers Drug Mart ***************** That is how we are supposed to process with any fake/damaged gift cards by telling to contact customer service as they are non-refundable. According to the images provided, we can see **************** and Amazon refused to provide any refund. In that case, customer can contact the store from where they have originally purchased the gift cards . So it does depend on that store how they want to process with the gift cards and the gift cards was purchased in ******* originally as it can be seen by the receipt provided by the customer. We are unable to help in this case as all the shoppers are franchise and owned by different associates.
