      My husband has a stroke January 2021. He needs an adjustable bed. As recommended by the occupational therapist, I ordered a double adjustable bed in August 2021. But the bed is too big to be delivered upstairs to the bedroom , so the salesman advised that I could get 2 single adjustable bed instead. So I did. When they delivered it on August 6, which is a Friday, only one bed came, 2 technicians showed up. The more experienced technician showed the other one how to set up the bed and promised the second bed will be delivered on Monday . By Monday the second bed came and the less experienced technician set up the bed. The foot board was set upside down, I mentioned it to him. March 2022, the hook of the control of the second bed fell off due to not enough room to allow it to move up when the bed goes up. I called and talked to several people, finally a sales manager helped me and told me that the part has 1 year warranty and I could pick it up in the store when it arrived from Toronto. That way I could avoid the house call fee. I asked if it could be mailed to my home instead because I cannot leave my husband, he said ok and he even said he will show me how to plug it in through ********. By June, the part has not arrived , so I called HME again, first they said they could not find the notes on my file, afterwards they said they found it but there is no details nor the name of the manager. Later, they said the parts is not covered and I have to pay for it. On September 30th, we roll the bed out to do dusting and mopping the floor. I found that the left leg of the head of the bed is bend and the screw is missing. So I called HME again, and told them they did not install the bed right in the first place and should fix it. I talked to the manager Shannon who said it’s a wear and tear and is after warranty and I have to pay. The bed set up by the experienced tech works fine but not the second one. HME should take the responsibility to fix their own mistakes .

      Anyone wanting to purchase a wheelchair should consider other dealers/distributors. Anyone who has purchased a wheelchair from HMEBC may have not gotten the right product or may not have been properly fitted for the wheelchair. I apparently asked too many questions about wheelchairs that were priced well into the thousands of dollars. I questioned the sales reps experience with the different models from different manufacturers and also questioned the length of time it was taking to respond to email (upwards of 4 business days).They considered me to be a difficult customer but all I wanted was a proper fitting and the lightest strongest folding wheelchair and the decisions made when ordering and configuring a wheelchair will impact the weight and can have a significant effect on the function, independence and safety of the chair. Making informed decisions when ordering a wheelchair and selecting components, as well as adhering to best practice recommendations during set up, can result in functional gains for wheelchair users.None of this was experienced during the almost 7 weeks of back and forth with HME reps. **** I wanted to speak to a manager, I got an email from the manager of sales who told me to take my business elsewhere. HMEBC refused to sell me a wheelchair because I asked too many questions and found that information I was being provided was contrary to what the actual manufacturers were saying about the chairs I was interested in. Essentially they gave up and rather than deal with the challenges I obviously posed in my questioning, they decided to tell me to take my business elsewhere.I wouldn't recommend any potential wheelchair user that is in need of a better or upgraded wheelchair because they may not get what they need or, like me, be summarily dismissed for wanting more information and hoping that they would get that information accurately and in a timely fashion.

      This was only about a proper wheelchair fitting. None of the staff were either trained or cared to perform such a fitting. Instead they outright refused to sell me a wheelchair and told me to go elsewhere. Your response, being well overdue, did not address the issue at all. Your sales people did not provide accurate information and exceptional service as you point out in your response and it was clear from the first sales rep that the sale was more important than the proper fit. My requirements as you put it are standard for anyone needing a wheelchair and if that is not "aligned" with your company's day to day operations then that is a real problem. It is estimated that up to 80% of wheelchair users are in a wheelchair that is not properly fitted which can cause a myriad of stressors on the upper body, back and pelvis. Not to mention safety issues. This is unacceptable for ANY dealer selling wheelchairs and HMEBC is supposed to be one of the top choices for mobility aids. Like the people I spoke with at your local branch, your response is empty and shows nothing to resolve what should have been an informed and proper fit of a wheelchair. Because of your actions I **** ******** ******* *** will not stop until your company is brought into the light regarding this ********* treatment and a lack of responsibility to potential wheelchair users.
