On December 27th, 2023 I purchased a dress for a total of $445.76, taxes included. The owner, *** informed me that she selects all of the dresses from designers or designs them herself. She also advised about the non refund exchange only policy. I was told that this particular dress was made by a designer in ******** and would only be available for purchase through her business. She also assured me that the she keeps a registry book to guarantee that no other girls at my school would have the same unique prom dress she was offering. A few days later, I came across the same dress being offered at a mainstream store, and discovered that the designer was not even from ********, according to that business, which was selling it for $120.00, plus taxes. After 10 days of the purchase I returned to the store with the unworn and unaltered dress asking for the owner to kindly consider a refund based on the fact that I paid for an item solely due to its exclusivity. Exclusivity is a regular offer in the market for prom dresses. The owner then proceeded to say that she has no means to guarantee that other sellers would not offer the same item in the market, obviously contradicting what I was informed earlier The owner emphasized that according to her policy, she could only offer an exchange which I was not open to accept considering that my trust was already broken, and possibly having the same problem happen again. The owner offered to exchange for a dress that costs $100 more honouring the same price paid, however for the same reason as before (lack of trust on the exclusivity aspect of her offer) I was not open to accept. To avoid more distress, I offered a penalty fee of the same $100 discount that she would be loosing from that exchange, for an exception to be made, which was declined. Despite the distress caused by the fact that she was not delivering what was guaranteed, in good faith, I only want to return the dress and be refunded for the full price paid.
