Our roof skylight was leaking. We wanted to hire a roofing company diagnosing the problem and fixing it. We called two company, Westcoast roofing and Raise The Roof. We chose Raise the Roof because John(president of the company) said he warranties no leak at the same spot until the life span of the roof when he came to quote. He also agrees to write this down on the invoice on the day he do the job, Oct 5,2022. However, he changed mind when he prepared invoice. On the invoice he wrote down "***** ******* ****** ** *** *** ***** ** *** ** **** ** ********* ******** ******* ********* ******** ******* ******** ******* *** **** ******* ** ******** **** ** ******* ** **** ********* ** **** **** **** * ****** **** **** ** ****** ** ** ****** ** ******* *****". We want warranty no leaking at that spot not warranty the backpan. If leaking happens in a few month and turns out vent causes the leaking then Raise The Roof could argue they are not responsible for that. This is not the service we need. If John told me he doesn't warranty no leaking at that spot when we met the first time, we would not have chosen him. According his invoice, there is no warranty at all. The packpan is metal and is not likely to break. The invoice is $1575 and I have paid $525. Since John would not warranty no leaking at the same spot, I suggest pay him balance $1050 end of April 2023. If no leaking this winter then this means he diagnosed the right problem. we agree no warranty anymore. To our disappointed, John placed a builders lien on our property on Oct 27 for $1575.

***** is in need of a roof replacement. She has an old and leaking skylight that we fixed in multiply areas including but not limited to installing new flashings. Right above the skylight there is a flat roof section that also very problematic in multiple areas, along with an incorrectly installed vent adjacent the skylight.  We cannot be confident that it won't leak again unless we installed a new roof and replaced the old skylight. I did agree to come back a second time if it leaked however, we did not hear from her after multiple atmospheric rivers. After she stopped communicating with us we unfortunately had to file a lien for the outstanding invoice.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

John went on roof total three time. The first time was Sept 23 when he came to quote. The second time was Sept 30 both John and his brother went on roof. The third time was Oct 5 they did the job. I have never heard the following: 1. The flat section has problem, 2. The vent was installed improperly until this BBB response.

I was been told that he warranty no leaking at the same spot for the life of the roof  since Sept 23 until Oct 7 ( the date he prepaid the invoice). Even On the phone Oct 15 John said the following" of course I will come back fix the leaking. Every contractor would do that."

According to WestCoast roofing, the nail John sealed is a temporary not a permanent fix. The sun and snow will break the seal.

We request John remove the Builders Lien and provide one year warranty starts Oct 5,2022.

      Sincerely,

      ***** ******* ***
