I had paid for a deposit for a roof repairs and for water remediation in the house to be finished. May 2023 The company came in and removed all water damaged construction but upon request of an estimate of work would not provide or was told one would come soon. I had to wait in their office and not leave, for them to actually provide me an estimate for the remediation and roof repairs. once an estimate was agreed $******* was paid because they told me they would not finish the work until a deposit was given. June 2023 The company came and completed the remediation in the house but would not set a time for roof repairs. August 25,2023 I fired the contractor and requested the remaining balance for the deposit returned. They would not return calls, emails or texts. When coming to their office no one was around and doors were locked. They have yet to return the remaining deposit that was over and above the cost of the remediation. this is November 09, 2023.Business response

In response to Consumer Original Complaint.
ICL was called into find the source of the heat loss in the Attic, which in turn causes moisture issues. The wall in the entrance was determined that moisture was present. The wall was opened to dry and bring down moisture levels. This is an older 1 ½ storey, with 2 look out area where addition meets. The ceiling has limited insulation and multiple areas of escape points. We ran multiple fans and a dehumidifier to ensure the effected area was dry. We tared the area where suspected area on the roof line was affected. We opened the small wall in the ½ storey and spray foamed the area that we figured the heat loss was present.
Some of the original costs were paid for, but the original costs have not been cleared up. The $**** for the roof tin should actually be applied to the outstanding cost incurred. Not roofing material was ordered.
In response to firing on the 25th. We were never personally fired as the roof job was never started. Only once a employee came by to the house, that they were informed that we no longer needed on the jobsite. Our office hours vary depending on where the jobsite take me to in a day. So, when I am not in the office the door is locked.
Conclusion is we are not paying out, and money should be applied to outstanding invoice.

I am rejecting this response because: I have never seen this invoice for $******* dated December 19 2023, I have a written estimate on May 29 2023 for $******* for repairing heat loss and water damage. ICL had to come 2 or 3 different times to re-repair the area as they did not fix the original water leak and it damaged their previous work. At the same time I got ICL to provide a quote to install tin on my roof, I gave them a $******* deposit for them to do the job. By the end of June 2023 ICL had quit returning my texts and E-mails in regards to a timeline for the roof, I hired another contractor to do the roof job as I wanted it done before fall. Still have never heard back from them. I am willing to pay the $******* plus GST for the original work done but as the invoice states the second repair was rework/poor quality work from the original job. $************************* should be refunded. ***** **** ** ************** **** *********** *** ** ******* *** ** ***** * **** **** ** *** ********* **** *** ****

Good Afternoon
The invoice dated Dec 19th is only what the job should have been. As that was sent as a visual. Also estimate can change as we can’t see what is behind closed of walls. We do our best to close, but when you cant see through walls it makes that hard. Heat loss is a vary hard thing to pin point, and can take multiple visits and situation to figure out the source.
