Incident at Soaps and Suds Laundry Mat

December 7/2021 approx. 5pm

My brother and I went into the laundry mat to wash our clothes. We used 10 washing machines and put money in each washing machine. Each washing machine costs $4 to wash.

My brother left the laundry mat to go get more money for the drying machines, I told my brother that I would stay and watch the machines while he runs to go get more money.

I noticed that some of the washing machines that we put money in weren't working. I went up to the employee desk and let the guy know that we put money in these machines and that they aren't working and maybe I didn't start them properly and needed his help.

The employee came out from the back and said "well that normally happens on one machine not multiple" and he looked at the machine and said well the machines are saying that there's no money in the machine and I said "well I don't know what to tell you, we're using all these machine here and put money in all of these" he's like well I'll call the owner. I said okay and the employee said the owner will be here in 15 mins.

My brother came back to the laundry mat and I let him know what happened and he said okay we will wait for the owner.

The employee came back out and my brother went up to him to talk to him about the Incident and the employee opened up the machines and said "there's no money in these ones" and my brother and I were confused because we did put money in those machines and the employee opened up another machine and he did find money in there. My brother and I said okay well that would be our money could we have it back to put back in the machine? And the employee said "no, how do I know it's your money and wasn't put there from another person?" At that point my brother and I were both confused and starting to get upset because we were the only ones in the laundry mat for over an hour now and obviously it was our money.

My brother said "well can you check the cameras or do something to find out that the money was in fact ours?" The employee said "I don't have access to the cameras"

My brother then said "so you're not going to give our money back?" The employee said "no because it could be someone else's money" the employee said that were are lying to him and just wanting to scam money.

My brother then got upset and said "you think we would drive all this way to scam a couple dollars?" And the employee said "well I don't know you, there has been people coming in here saying that the washing machines ruined their clothes"

At this time the conversation was getting heated. The employee was calling us liars.

My brother and I decided to take our clothes and go to another laundry mat since this was an extremely rude and unprofessional interaction.

My mom eventually came to the laundry mat while my brother and I were packing up our clothes to go to another laundry mat.

My brother and I explained the situation to my mom and my mom went to go talk to the employee.

The employee was extremely rude towards my mom and kept telling my mom that my brother and I were liars and wanting to scam.

We let the employee know that this was not how you conduct business and how you treat customers.

My mom said "let's leave and we will go somewhere else" and the employee yelled out "HURRAY!"

We left feeling hurt and upset knowing that we were called liars and scammers. We definitely did none of those things and we're out money from those machines.

We eventually went to another laundry mat and explained what happened to those owners and they said that the money was probably stuck in the machine and that's why when the employee opened up the machine he didn't see money. *************************************************************** *********************
