Quote **** given in May Mike of Charleswood Tree service had asked for 300 dollar deposit which he received May 28 2022. He told me that it would be four to five weeks before service of cutting trees in our yard. I texted Mike June 6 2022 June 21 2022. He responded by phone and said first week of July. I agreed but as long as service would not happen July 7 2022 as I had a health issue to contend with that day at hospital. I had not heard from Mike so again I texted him August 9 he replied by text following day the 10th and said he hadn’t heard from equipment dealer as of yet he might have to rent something I’m going to have to look at job again sorry for the delay. I responded to Mike and said let me know when your coming. Mike and Tyler came on August 29 to look at job again. He then told me his truck would fit in yard it will be the first or second week of September I said ok but if something comes up and you can’t make it let me know as I would do the same if date doesn’t work . Again I haven’t heard from him so I texted him to tell him I need to cancel with him on September 10 2022 as I have a health issue to deal with and I wouldn’t be able to help him as I told that I would to the best of my ability. The yard stuff and gate would be removed but could not help him to perform job and at this point I’m paying him for service *** ** ***** ** *** ********* ***** **** ** *** **** *** I understood and told him that I would help him to best of my ability but a health issue I have needed to be addressed so I needed to cancel and requested my deposit returned this was a text. I then called him and explained on phone and he said he would only refund 200 of the 300 dollars and he said he had a lot of time invested in this job. He came to my residence twice so I’m a little confused about his explanation about keeping $100. **** **** ****** *********** **** *** ***** ****** ** ******* ******** I want all my deposit back at this point. Hello this is Mike from Charleswood Tree Service, in response to this complaint. I myself was at the customers residence a total of 2 times, once for the initial quote and On the last visit, the first week of September, me and my helper decided that we were going to have proper access with our secondary truck with the boom on the rear. At this point we informed the customer that we were able to book the job for either the 15th or the 16th of September, he agreed that those dates would work for him but he was hoping for something sooner. The whole reason for this delay was, we were waiting for a piece of equipment purchased from Italy that was supposed to be here at the end of August(which was ordered in May), which we informed the customer about from the very beginning and he told us he was willing to wait because we were highly recommended. September 10th 2022 the customer sent me a text stating he was cancelling the job due to health reasons( the week we had scheduled the job to be done). when we talked on the phone he told me he got other quotes that were cheaper and didn't require a deposit. At that point he requested his deposit back in full and was using his medical issues, for a reason to back out. As I stated when I took the $300 deposit, it was to keep his place on the work schedule as many other company's do. In all honesty I didn't have to return any of his deposit(but I did out of good business). I felt he cancelled on the fact that he got a cheaper price from someone else, not because of his health concerns which i was fully aware of when i did the quote. I don't require my customers to help me with my line of work.

Hello,
Regardless of the time and who you hired, the whole point of this is you feel you should get your deposit back on a job that you cancelled before the reassessed work date. Typically you would loose your whole deposit, but out of good business I decided to refund you the 70% portion. Sorry for the inconvenience, but equipment delivery is out of my hands as far as shipping and availability. Moving forward there is nothing more I can add to this.
