Quinn did electrical work on the mobile home I purchased in June of this year. They returned to look into the leaking heat pump and the baseboard heater in my bedroom. The latter continues to turn on all by itself, running extremely hot. I alerted Quinn to this in several media for weeks now, but have yet to get a response or resolution. This is a serious health and safety risk, not to mention the cost for wasted energy.

The mobile home you purchased was through ****** Mini homes. These are prewired homes built and manufactured by **** homes. Because your home was purchased within a year, this is a warranty repair that needs to be authorized through **** homes. You should be reaching out to ****** to delegate work orders and they will authorize a sub contractor to do your repair.

I am rejecting this response because:

This is a continuation from the work completed as I bought the home. They returned to complete more, twice. The last time, I was directed by Havil to them and they came. They did not fix it properly. I should not have to return to ****** for this. If I did, I'd be again redirected.

I contacted Quinn Energy for a quote to purchase a level 2 ev charger and have it installed at my home. In the quote those were the words I used. I got the quote back from them with the same wording on it. "Level 2 EV Charger Installed". When the technician got to my house on Jan. 17, 2023, he began working. When he was done he showed me what he had done and at the time I was confused and concerned that I had misread the quote. What he installed was a 240v plug on the outside of my home. I called the company and told them that was not what I asked for and the owner argued with me that what was installed was a "charger". Then he told me since I "sounded upset" he would "go on ****** and buy me a level 2 charge for $400". That, to me, says he did not install a charger at my home. His tech came back to my home on Saturday, January 21, 2023 with a portable plug in level 2 charger. I told him that is again, not what I wanted. I wanted a charger installed at my home. Not a portable cord. The owner then called my yesterday, January 23, 2023 and told me I was not getting anything else from them and that I didn't know what I was talking about and that he was calling his lawyer and taking me to court. I told him I was not paying for what was at my home and I wanted him to come and remove it. The owner is extremely aggressive and not willing to listen to me at all. His techs we're good to deal with and I had civil conversations with both of them. When the owner spoke to me yesterday, he tried to twist the situation saying I had completely dismissed his tech and had not listen to him at all about the "charger" he was offering. This was not the case. I spoke to the technician and tried to find out if there was something in the terminology I had used that had caused this confusion. The tech said, no and that it was my preference of what charger I wanted. I don't know how to deal with this now. I just want this equipment out of my house and not to talk to this man, ****** again.

Tell us why here..First visit : Journeyman electrician went out to quote the project, explained to the customer that we could install a 50amp weather proof receptacle on the side of the home, for a level 2 EV charging connection. He had the understanding that she would have the level 2 charger for us to install by the power supply we offered. She reviewed the quote and accepted it.

On the quote there is nothing stating we were supplying the level 2 charger but only installing
      A level 2 EV charger

I’m attaching photos of the quote, the work that has been done and the charger we provided and were willing to install

Second visit : jan 17 2023 Another journeyman electrician went out and installed the 50amp weatherproof receptacle for Ev charging connection box on the side of the home. Explained to customer what it was and what it could do for her, he said she seemed very happy and he left.

The next day jan 18 2023 10:30am, she had called the office saying this is not what she wanted and kicked up a big fuss stating we should provide a level 2 charger

So I was told about the situation and I called her that afternoon, explained to her the receptacle we installed was suitable for any level 2 charger and she needed to purchase a level 2 charger suited for her electric vehicle. She sounded very upset and said “it says level 2 EV charger installed on the quote, this is not what I got”. So I said to her , “I tell you what, I can see how the quote may have generated-some confusion so I will purchase you a level 2 EV charger and install it for you”. I explained to her I have the same one at my office, they work great you’ll be very happy with it. She agreed and said “thank you very much”.

Third Visit : Jan 21 2023, another journeyman electrician went over to install the EV charger on the side of the home, she looked at the charger and said this is not what she wanted and sent him and the charger on their way.

All level 2 EV chargers have this plug connection on them, they can be either hardwired or plugged in,  the charger I was willing to install would have been very useful for her.

It mounts on the side of the home, plugs into the receptacle enclosure, and from there goes into the vehicle.

Also has the compatibility to be removed and used in other places, a lot of airbnbs install these level 2 receptacle boxes so someone with a level 2 EV charger could utilize it.

We can come back to install this for 250$ plus HST upfront and the remainder balance of 1750$ plus tax. Since we have already tried to install this charger for her already.

Or you can come pick it up and pay the balance outstanding which is 1750$ plus HST

After all the work completed to this point multiple visits and phone calls from her I understand she wants a specific type of charger now, but none of this was discussed prior to the work and any further negotiations of another type of charger will incur additional charges.

"it’s not useful to have to remove and put away a cord every time I charge my car."

everytime you unplug your vehicle you will have to coil up the cord and hang it on your wall.

I think your confused, you don't have to unplug the charger and bring it inside

You don't have to do that.

That level 2 charger can be hardwired and or plugged in, it also mounts on the wall and is stationary with a hook to coil the cable,

We have tried to explain this to you several times now , but it doesn't seem that your listening. You can't expect us to entertain your requests, we purchased a charger and tried to install it, and you said I don't like that one, I want the one that's at my work. Well we still had to purchase the charger and waste another trip to your house.

If you had a specific charger in mind you should of mentioned it the first time we were there, because there is many different options for charging and different chargers specific for EV vehicles.

We can offer you an updated invoice for 1000$, you can call another electrician to utilize the cable feeder that was Ran to the side of the house and you can choose with them the type of charger that you want that will be suitable for your vehicle.

I'm sorry this never worked out for you, but we are not mind readers and if you had something specific in mind for your vehicle you should have brought that to our attention,

instead of agreeing to let us purchase a charger and try to install it and then turn us away.

I cant see this going anywheres else, small claims or an agreement of the work completed an updated invoice to be sent to you.

      thanks

I am rejecting this response because:

My original request was for you to install a level 2 charger at my home. You are clearly saying you did not do that. The fact that you offered after the fact to purchase a level 2 charger for me again, confirms you did not install a level 2 charger at my home as I requested. I want to be perfectly clear. You did not install a level 2 charger at my house. In your words “the RECEPTACLE we installed was suitable for any level 2 charger and that she needed to purchase a level 2 charger..” Those are your words. Clearly, you did not install a level 2 charger at my home.

The only compromise I can make at this point is that you come and HARDWIRE INSTALL the charger that you purchased after your team did the installation of a 50amp receptacle at my home for the original price of $1750 plus HST.
