      We get a lot of Sun in our backyard, we called Awning Master and purchased an awning from them because they were recommend to us.
      Once our awning was installed, we realized that they are only out to make a sale.....BIG Bucks for an awning that does not give us shade.
      Why didn't Steve (Owner/Salesman) tell us that because of the location of where the awning gets attached to the house, that an awning would not give us shade. Since he is suppose to be an expert, he should have kindly told us that he does not recommend an awning for our house, NO, instead he went ahead with making a sale.
      We then tried to contact him to see if we could get the awning adjusted, he told us that he would come in the next couple of days, although he says he did, we did not see him and he did not call us. We then tried to call several more times.....no one answered the phones, we left several messages, no one ever called us back. Then we drove to their showroom on Strathearn Ave. well, when we arrived, the showroom was empty, no note on the door to say they moved and no new contact phone number.
      We tried calling the 705 Barrie number and finally spoke to someone. The message was passed on to Steve, he did end up coming over, no adjustments could be made, we told him the awning was useless which he saw because it was sunny with absolutely no shade.
      He suggested that put up a shade sail on the side of our house to give us the shade we want, but we would have to do it ourselves because he won't do it. If he had told us about the shade sail, maybe we have had that installed instead of purchasing an awning.
      The umbrella we had before we purchased the awning, gave us more shade than the awning does.
      Beware, and ask him to be truthful.

      Hi Tony,

      I am terribly sorry you feel this way; however we are not experts in how each person uses their outside space, and since we don't live at your house, it's impossible for us to know what the sun looks like at every part of the day. There is only a small percentage of homes that cannot have an awning due to height restrictions or lack of mounting space. When one of our sales reps go to provide clients with quotes, we only provide you with what you are looking for. We will make recommendations in some cases if there are evident issues or concerns.

      There are ways to get side protection if you are having sun come in from the side. A side curtain is one way to add additional shade to give you added protection when the sun moves off to the side. When an awning is installed higher up on a wall, which happened in your case due to having stairs, it can prevent certain coverage in the afternoon because the sun starts to move to the side. Some of your neighbors are 30" higher up because they have a deck and therefore are closer to the awning.

      We have been in the awning industry for over 30 years and have never taken advantage of anyone or mislead anyone. There are solutions that can help especially in your case. We are proud of our repetitive clientele and referral rate. We are not known for taking advantage of anyone, and we are not just out to make a sale. We take pride in what we do.

      We apologize for not returning your call promptly at that time. Our lease ended and our phone lines were cut off prematurely. We maintained the same phone number, but at that time had no means of answering the phone or knowing who was calling. We were unable to contact you, or anyone else, during this time frame and missed several messages. We apologize for the inconvenience, but because our lease was over, the landlord or new tenant must have removed our note on the door.

      I'm sorry but your apology doesn't even come close to what we were complaining to the BBB about.

      You are the owner of the company and you are an expert on Awnings and it was up to you to advise us before we purchased the awning that our soffit was up too high and therefore it would not provide the shade we are looking for in the afternoon. Instead you went ahead with the sale with no mention of the problem we will have once it gets installed.

      If you provided this info to us we would not have purchased your awning and we would not have had the need to post our complaint on BBB.
      All you were interested in was making the sale and you'll worry about the complaints later.

      When we finally reached your office by phone, you did come over to our home to see what our problem was and you agreed that the awning was not providing the shade we wanted so your response to us was that we need to purchase and install a side curtain but you don't offer one and you suggested that ****** has "sails" that may work for us but we would be our own purchasing and installing it.

      Who would want to install a sail beside my back yard patio in order to get the shade we thought our awning would be providing us. Not to mention how awful our patio would look with an awning and a sail! not to mention that the sail colour would not match our awning colour.

      So at that time your response to us, was not an apology for selling an Awning that does very little for us, instead it was an opportunity for you to tell us how we can achieve getting the shade we wanted after you had already sold and installed a product that does not work for our particular situation.

      Why should we have purchase and install other products to give us what we thought we were getting with your product?

      That's why we felt the way did and why we posted our complaint. Your apology did not address any of this.
