      We paid $2500.00 deposit on a 15 ft carbon fibre canoe from Langford Canoe in November 2022. We were told we could pick it up in the spring. Beginning in April have been trying to contact the company to see when we could pick the canoe up. We were told that our canoe would arrive on May 9th or May 11. Since then we have been made repeated phone calls, emails and even drove to ****** (from Ottawa) to see when we could get the canoe. Only get an answering machine and they don't return calls or emails. Website says they are open but no one seems to be there.

      Bought a canoe paddle through the company’s online store back on June 5. I have called and emailed the company many times over past few months about when this item would ship to me. I even payed extra for faster shipping. I have spoke to someone once on the phone back in beginning of July and they said they just got a new shipment in and would be shipped out that week. I still have not received anything and have emailed asking the status and if not going to ship the item to just cancel. I received an email ****** **** that a shipping label is made, but still no item. I still have not received any response from this company. I have tried calling several times and no answer. I just want my money back now since this company seems to not bother to want to ship me the item.

      Unfortunately with this online order the client ordered a custom made wooden paddle that ended up being on back order for us.    

       

      We have had various issues getting supply of wood and materials for many of our products and paddles are among them unfortunately. 

       

      We have since given ***** an alternate model of paddle at no-charge and fully refunded the entire amount of his order for the delay and his frustration. 

       

      We gave him the free paddle on Sept 10th and the full refund was issued this morning Sept 14th.

      I contacted Langford Canoe in early 2021 to discuss the crafting of a custom HBC canoe. It was explained that the canoe was intended to mark an upcoming special event and also fulfil a wish expressed to the late ***** *********** years earlier about his canoes. Materials, prices, options and delivery were discussed. In February 2022, following a move back east, I placed an order for what I believed would be a "special" vessel as well as two paddles. Delivery was to be in May - paddles likely earlier. Supply issues with canvas delayed the delivery to June, then in June wood issues delayed delivery until mid July. Then it was paint. Mid July came and went, no canoe, no paddles, no calls -texts-emails. I sent a message, no reply. Not a word from them. They've had my $6,000.00 deposit since February and all I've got in return are stock excuses for delays. I say "stock" excuses because the line was verbatim the same months apart even though the reason for delay had changed. ****** was very polite and apologetic every time and every time committed to investigate and call the next day. Never happened. The anniversary has passed, the "specialness" of the canoe is long over and now it's just a nightmare. It's time to boot Langford Canoe to the curb and move on. I'd tell them but they don't reply to messages. It's time for a refund of my $6,000.00 deposit. If you at the *** can facilitate this great. If not, court is the next step. Thanking you in advance. *****

      My company ( Langford Canoe )  has been in operation for 80 years and specialized in the production and distribution of higher end Canoes. 

      ***** ******* ordered one of our most custom Classic Cedar Canoes in April knowing that the ETA for standard Classic Cedar ( in non-pandemic or post pandemic times )   is 8-10 weeks.   ***** was anxious from the start to get his canoe and we tried our best to get the best lead time possible. 

      Like all production industries,   we have had several significant delays in our supply chain and almost all of our production has been delayed and even hauled until we received materials to complete all the various canoes in our schedule.    ****'s canoe was a very custom HBC style canoe and the delays were further compounded by this.     

      We fully refunded ***** his deposit on Aug 26th  and also went as far to send him ( 2 ) complimentary canoe paddles as compensation for his frustration with our delays.  


       

      We never want to disappoint our clients and certainly never want to have them frustrated with us.    Communicating ongoing delays for products that clients really really want is never an easy task.
