$37K deposit paid 06/26/2022 for excavation/underpinning project on my home. Total cost $88K including taxes. I was told they would be getting all associated permits for the construction. Contracted stated 6 week period before work begins (June 8th} and then 6 weeks for work to be completed (July 20th). my emails were ignored and phone calls were not returned for a month after the projected start date. They sent a revised contract in late August due to bin placement issues asking for an extra $15k. I refused the new contract and asked for my deposit to be returned. My neighbour offered to have the bin placed in his yard. Work then began on August 30th with prices from the original contract. I asked for a copy of the construction permit on September 20th and was told it was not in the contract. They had already excavated beneath the footings of my foundation but they stopped work. I applied for the permits immediately though they were delayed until December 2nd. My neighbour had asked for the bin to be removed from his yard at this point as it had far exceeded the 6 weeks duration and he was concerned about snow removal. Dec 14th I noticed approx 8 square feet of my foundation had crumbled in one of the excavation spots. They came and braced the floor joist afterwards. With the cold weather, my plumbing had also frozen due to the hole in my foundation they use to remove the dirt. There is also now a crack in the main stack drain leaking sewage into my basement. At the time I was told they could have the job finished in 3 weeks. It is now January 5th. They only showed up Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The contract also states that they would be doing this project in accordance with the engineered drawings and appropriate city inspections. I have not yet seen the city inspector and I do not think they are properly following the engineer's instructions. This job was supposed to be done in the summer. It is now 6 months late and causing damage to my home.
