July 12 last year, 2021, Armour Shield was hired to correct insulation problems in the roof of our home. The previous winter ice dams formed on the roof and water dripped on the walls inside. I installed heating cables to try and help the situation. The company stated that they could provide a solution the would solve the problem. They used a combination of spray foam in the edge area and blown in, in the centre area. The cost was $2240 for the spray foam, and $1600 for the blown in! The 30 day warranty won’t tell much until winter arrives! They told me that whatever I do, do not use heat lines on the roof. The results after the first few snowfalls were very disappointing. Ice dams built up and water was running down the inside walls worse than before. I notified the company took pictures, checked the temperature in the attic which was 53F inside when it was -20 outside. I have emails saying they would get with me late April to make a plan. In late June they said we would get together to make improvements. Since then, I have sent emails and made phone calls and have been totally ignored. Winter is closing in and the problems are not solved!

In regards to the complaint, we did a couple of projects for the individual. The problem is his roof system is a 3/12 rise and his interior walls are the issue not the insulation. We responded to his intitial complaint and explained the situation. Fell free to inspect our job on site, it was all installed correctly and to be honest over done. The issue is not the project we completed, it is the overall structure and interior walls which are not in our scope of work. Very much appreciated, and again apologies for the wait. Feel free to contact me anytime.

      Complaint: 18234159

I am rejecting this response because:the roof does have a low pitch, but we ere told that the company had a solution that would work. Several alternates we presented, but Armour Shield rejected them. In his response, he states the it is also the fault of the walls as well. There was never any mention of the walls, and I fail to understand how the walls would cause snow to melt on the roof. He states he responded to the complaint, but if you read the texts,, he never offered any explaination, his only statement was that it was completed to spec, and in June he said he would contact me for solutions/ improvements. That never happened and was the final communication from them. He earlier told me not to use heated cables, but they are certainly helping this winter, but the problem is far from solved, and I am concerned that the method he used may be causing mold to form behind the walls. I have had other contractors look at the problem and they state that the problem is lack of airflow in the attic. It was the spray foam installed by Armour Shield that prevented air flow coming from the soffits to the attic space. Temperatures in the attic should be close to that of outside temperature. Currently attic temp is 53F when it is -20 outside!
His response is not logical or true!
      Sincerely, **** ********
