I signed a contract with DrainAway Group Inc. on Sept. 1, 2022 and as demanded, I paid a large cash desposit for foundation and waterproofing repairs to my home. Work commenced a week late on Sept 12, and it was agreed that all outside work would be completed within 2 to 3 weeks. The declared owner/operator of the business, ******* Brennan, did some of the escavation work and then had multiple excuses for not showing up while the weather was good. He had also told me he had employees to help, and notwithstanding my telling him that the Ontario regs require a minimum of 2 people working in trenches of the size he dug, he refused to bring anyone to help him. ** ********** **** ******** ************** ** *** **** ****** and by Oct 19, when he had not showed up, I gave him 36 hours to show up for work or I would hire someone else to do the job properly before the frost and snow, which would endanger my property with the large trench surrounding it. I asked multiple times for my deposit back. I told him he could keep the first instalment paid on Sept 12 for the escavation he did. I since discovered that he is not the owner of the company, or if he is, his name is registered on the Canada Business Corporations site as ******* *******, of the same address in Kemptville. ******* ******* was charged under the Criminal Code multiple times for theft of construction materials. I therefore have good reason to believe that ******* is working under multiple companies and fraudulently concealing his true identity.
