In 2019 we moved to this address and used the WTC setup that was at this location, as the previous owner advised us that no other usable internet is available out here. Throughout the past 2.5 years the internet has been spotty, to be kind; however, knowing that WTC is our best option here, other than a couple calls to get a tech out here to see if anything could be improved (it couldn’t) we just dealt with it as best we could. In 2020 my wife and I began our work from home lives. The internet is essential to our careers. The service provided has been enough to get us by and in fact the past couple weeks its been better than ever (avg around 20mbps down). After looking at our bills, we decided we no longer needed WTC VOIP, as it cost almost $30/mth and we never use our home phones. 30 minutes after confirming we no longer wanted the service we received another phone call stating they were cancelling our internet service as our service was causing interference with other customers. This is after us being with them for 2.5 years and the previous owner for who knows how long. They proceeded to rhyme off other providers in the area (Bell, Rogers, etc.) that we could switch to. We advised that we had already looked into them and others and they don’t have service available here. We further advised we’re on the waiting list for Starlink, but that’ll take an undetermined amount of time, but likely 2023. Following the above confusing phone call we received an email stating we have until the end of May before we get cut-off. We could be out of our work from home jobs if this is the case. We are beside ourselves. If that isn’t enough, since we emailed them back to voice our displeasure, our speeds have been the worst they been (1mbps). They advised the timing of the phone disconnection and this was a coincidence and they won’t be charging us for the final 2 months of service for this “inconvenience.” This is our livelihood, these terms aren’t acceptable.
